3rd Gen Tacoma Areas of Concern (Listed)

Hey guys,

I figured I would throw together a list of various issues that some of you guys have been experiencing and/or have concerns about. Whether this list is helpful in anyway is up to user discretion, but if any ones looking for it, it may be easier to find this way.

Start posting and I'll start listing.

2. Rear End Noise howling when feathering throttle
3. Hood Vibrating
4. Clunk In Rear drive line. (Automatic)
5. Stalled On Steep Decline/Low Oil Pressure
6. Weak Windshield
7. Bad Seals In Light Assemblies
8. Rear Brakes Seized
9. Driveline Vibration
10. Locking Rear Differential
11. Failed Blind Spot Minitoring
12. Premature Upper Control Arm Bushing Deformaty
13. Break Pedal Vibrations

issues 1-10 is operator error!!

 

16 TRd OR 6MT - 0 issues in 3800 miles

17 Pro - 1 issue in 7100 miles

A) new headlight due to leaking seals

 

Clamps

 

This is going to get good!!

 

Water on door sills

Oil dipstick stuck

Low transmission fluid

Sunroof leaks

Front seatbacks loose

Blind spot monitor failure

Rear doors not closing

Uhhhh

 

My driver side headliner keeps falling down. That's really the only issue with mine. Well and a little of the BSM issue.

 

Touchscreen nav/headunit reboot issue

Driveline vibe

Howling diff

Howling control arms

Transmission b.s

Rear 3rd brake light, seals/leak

 

Wow those used to be old GM and old BMW problems

 

-License plate/tag lights fill up with water
-Howling lower control arms (there's a TSB to fix it)
-Excessively Squeaky/Creaky Leaf Springs (there's a Tech Tip to address temporary fix)
-Unexpected engine surge when in idle (reverse or drive)
-Clutch pedal sticking or very delayed in cold weather (on MTs)
-hard/stiff shifting on MTs
-Engine misfire/stuttering/lugging feeling at low rpms with constant throttle
-A-Pillar/B-pillar Rattle; Dash Rattle
-Excessive wind noise from rear cab vents
-Speedometer/Tach needle ticking movement
-CPS failure
-Paint chips very easily on rocker panels and front of truck
-Fuel in gas tank sloshing is very noticeable when coming to stop
-Zerks not greased from factory
-Transmission and Diff low fluids from factory
-Exterior molding around windows pops out

 

This is gonna need to be a sticky. It will be very nice for when Toyota comes to read the forums...one stop list! They can use the data to pareto the defects

 

Frequent urination.

Passenger side window rattles - Not yet fixed

 

Anal Leakage.

 

Probably a problem for a doctor and not a dealer.

 

My tires are round.

 

Biggest problem with my truck has been reading about it on TW.

 

Cheap ass gauge cluster acrylic... AKA "the only substance on earth that can be scratched by a baby's ass"
