    Digging up into on self-install. Quick follow-up:

    It appears that, in a fully assembled shock, the total compression power of the spring is secured by that teeny little adjustment ring. Really?

    Sure, there is something that slides on top of this adjustment ring, but still, all the power stops with that little ring.

    What am I missing?

    I was thinking the same thing. That adjustment ring doesn't seem like it would hold all of the pressure being exerted on it. It guess it works well though.

    I'm doing my 5100's this week. I hope it all goes well since it will be a DIY project for me.

    At first I said "how could all that tension be held by something I can remove with my fingers?" Then I realized that the spring perch slides over the sides of the ring to push it inward and hold it in place. That made me feel a little better.

    Jup, I just figured that out too just before I saw your post. I started a thread in the ToyTec forum where I dumped all my starter questions.
    I'm sitting here in the living room with some of the parts, trying to fit them together. I had the "square peg, round hole" syndrome :D
