It was 90+ in the Boston area today. I found that mine was blowing colder air with the fan one click down from high. When it was on high it really wasn't cold.

Air speed over a coil can make a huge difference in the cooling capacity. If the air is moving too quickly there isn’t enough time for the heat to be absorbed.

Electric fans are always better at idle, they give a constant air flow. Engine driven fans are dependent on rpm.

I checked the fan this morning before starting it, slight movement but definitely not free spinning. The only part of the cooling system I haven’t replaced really is the radiator itself. I bought this truck with 112k miles a year ago. So I really have no idea how well it was maintained by previous owner.

Just about everybodys seems to blow hot at idle or stop and go. Seen it for years. Least if you live in hell bucket heat like us. 104 here yesterday. Hotter today. This is an old thread, but he claimed it helped, read to end.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Clutch fans do not circulate air at idle, until at their lockup temp. It definitely does not move enough air to keep the condenser cool, especially when outdoor temps are high. An aux electric fan might be in your future...
