A.C. Drain line

I noticed that my 2017 taco A.C. drain line has been removed or pushed back into the unit… how do I replace that drain line so that the AC drains properly? I was trying to relocate the drain line so that it didn’t drain onto the frame but there is no hose part coming out to hook too

 

Add some 5/8 heater hose to extend it and clamp it or zip tie all set

 

That’s my question, there is no hose to connect the 5/8 inch hose too? Not sure what to do?

To help clarify, is this what you are referring to? It may helps others, pics almost always help for future notice.

 

You're going to have to look inside behind the glove box to see the where the other end of the drain hose is. Move the rugs and insulation aside. (Not sure about the 3rd gen, but on a 2nd gen removing the glove box and one trim piece behind it opens up the whole area to see... takes about 5 mins) It should be connected to a nipple on the bottom of the condenser housing. If it was just pushed back in for some reason, it (hose) should be easy to spot: connect it and push it back through the firewall. If it dropped out of the pass-thru and disappeared (unlikely) you'll have to run a new one.

FWIW: it's essentially like distilled, fresh water leaking out of it. Driving in a good rain storm drenches everything much worse than this including the frame. When I notice it, I consider it a nice fresh-water flush of the frame in that area. Not saying don't do it, it's an easy mod.

Don't let this go too long: if it's not connected inside (hose), you're going to have a wet, stinky mess to deal with and ruined insulation pad and carpet on the passenger side to deal with from the water dripping inside.

There were earlier posts about extending slightly below the frame to avoid the dripping on the frame, it is easy as stated above buy a length hose and a lamp. All the above ideas were spot on.

My 5th Gen 4Runner has been draining onto and into the frame for 12 years, and my Tacoma now for 6.
No rust on either. None.
This "problem" is a figment of the imagination, a fix in search of a problem..

 

Thanks everyone for your input! Turned out to be much easier than I thought! Was able to fix it in under 5 mins. I simply had to look under the glove box and pull back the carpet to expose the drain line hose. Pushed it back through the hole and it’s now draining properly again. Again, thank you all for the help

Definitely get a piece of line and a hose clamp and run the drain almost to the ground . I did that not to long ago to keep it from dripping on my frame and rusting it out .

 

Not sure it'd actually rust there but I shoot the area with a blast of fluid film when I do underneath in the fall.

 

Agreed but a simple change to improve longevity. $5. Done
