I like that place up in Marysville, where there still is a restaurant and a ski area outside of Helena. The food/bar was amazing for somewhere out in the middle of nowhere.

Steve, Bannack's open to the public but I'm not sure if/how you set it up. I went as part of a history class field trip in 8th grade, so we naturally had tour guides and such, panned for gold, heard the history of the place. I'm pretty sure you can just show up, I don't really remember exactly how it was set up, if there was a visitor center there or what.

For obvious reasons, a few of the buildings are closed, or certain areas off limits to the public, but from the pictures on that site it looks like a lot of the areas that were closed last time I was there have opened up. It's a pretty cool place for sure.

xedge, that's what I love about MT, hidden gems all over :D

Invite me out to your island for a beer if you get that lottery gig. I'll even bring the beer.

So I was talking to my friend who runs the site VTUnderground which is decidated to urban exploration at or near my campus. Turns out I got into something that was always locked up when he went. This was last fall so I am going to make another stealthy trip :spy:

Either tonight or this week to try an get some pics for his site. I found an unlocked gate into the crawlspace of the most iconic building on campus. I left with a horrible respiratory infection for the next 4-6 weeks. I thought it was asbestos but he thinks it was just mold.

Needless to say I am venturing out again tonight so I may need someone to bail me out of jail :D

Take a respirator with you this time. Sounds like fun. That abandoned highway you found is pretty cool.
