I am also interested in tuning my 19 OR and have read through a few of the 2400+ Pages of the thread but have a couple of questions after reading some people’s comments.

My only main questions are (1) i read somewhere that when tuned and using cruise control, the tune reverts back to the stock parameters and (2) i am looking into running the 87 tune but have seem people mention tip in and wanted to know more about it as to if i would need to adjust that with the 87 tune.

The current tune will use the stock shift tables if you use adaptive cruise control only. Simply select standard cruise control if you want the OVtune shift tables with cruise control.

The "tip in" is pretty much the same regardless of the octane version you choose. Selecting the performance or standard version is where the "tip in" will vary greatly.

Ordered my OV last month. Guess I'm one of the many who missed the last shipment before the new year, so I'm patiently waiting. Looking forward to it. Tuned my last Focus ST with a COBB devise and the drivability was night and day. Trusting the OV gives anything near that and I'm happy...and without all the datalogging I was doing to the ST is a serious plus

Regarding swapping the OVT tune back to OE for dealer warranty work.....I have read that Ford specifically has denied a number of performance Mustang warranty claims on 'tuned' vehicles. They look at how many start cycles the OE tune has on it and compare that to the stated odometer mileage. If it is less than makes sense for the mileage, they deny warranty. I don't think Toyota is looking that close at the Tacoma because it does not have that kind of performance risk (ie: engine damage), but I would think it is entirely possibly. I would love to hear OVT's input on that.

What I remember reading from @OVTune was that there is no checksum on our ECUs. So, the dealers cannot tell when or if our ECUs have been flashed. With a flashed tune, the ECU still reports the stock Calibration ID (04B13 in my case).

Our ECUs do report time and mileage since the DTCs were reset, but that function can be performed with any OBD reader or app. That would be a very unreliable source to tell if an ECU has been flashed.

Wrong. Your profile shows you joined on Sep 23, 2019. My post was from January of 2019.... a year ago and you're just getting caught up on a snarky response? LOL. How else are people going to learn to conduct searches and NOT keep posting the same questions in useless posts over and over again? BTW, are you a mod? Help us understand. We are here to help you grow.

What do any of your points matter?! That's the way forums work. The thread came back to the top and a regular member responded to you in said thread. If you think that being "Snarky" "helps" people and they respect you for it. Carry on. LOL

    What kind of tablet?
I bought a $299 laptop and I don't think the USB ports are USB-3. I can't read anything when I plug in the tuner. Guess I'm going to have to buy a nicer windows device.

So. What you are basically saying is:

    1. You are not a moderator.
    2. You don't care if useless, frequently asked questions continue to get asked.... frequently.
    3. Tacoma World should suffer the fate of every forum you've ever visited.
    4. You don't take constructive criticism well.

    Got it.

But the 2.0 USB hub will still be plugged into the outdated USB of the laptop.
I'll give it a try before buying a new device.

Ah, I misread. I think the dongle is not 3.0 compatible and most new laptops are 3.0... even cheap ones. Many have solved this problem by purchasing a 2.0 hub. But if you laptop is 2.0, then I’m uncertain what the issue is.

What’s weird, is that usb is supposed to be backward compatible so a 3.0 *should* work with a 2.0 device.

It is definitely not reading the information from the truck. I had to leave for work shortly after attempting the tune, I'll be back home Wednesday and hopefully, I get it figured out. I bought the tuner back in September and have been anxious to get it installed.

Does anyone have a good way to contact OVTune? I emailed for my key authorization 4 days ago from two different addresses and haven’t received a reply. I also have checked spam on both accounts. I sent another message via the online inquiry page just in case my emails were going to spam.

I’m not salty, I’m just excited and ready to see the results of the $700 I’ve spent. I was under the impression it’s a 24-36 hour turnaround on key authorization. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You have to go through the zendesk. Read the instructional pdf posted on the site very carefully and include all necessary information. Outside that, patience. Seems like theres a backlog currently.

Not sure if you are still watching the thread OP, but I’ve been tuned for over 2 yrs and have been to the dealer many times while tuned with no issues...even with a re-gear.

The tune is great. I would have gotten rid of my truck without it.
