Yes sir, I was having a hell of a time turning in those tight spots on the trails. Now I can either flip the switch, or throw one of the three sticks and spin the wheel :D

No, come on man. I can flex my sliders back and forth by hand, and my stock lights suck ;)

Thanks for posting pics on your knuckle removal. I have a rebuild kit with bearings and FJ rotors and v6 calipers but I'm a bit timid getting into em for the first time.

Getting it apart is pretty easy with the right tools. I got down to the knuckle in 30 minutes each side. I just hope I get it back together correctly, with my ADHD :cookiemonster:

They're easy, just don't get in a hurry and miss a seal. I forgot to put in a seal and had to tear it back down.

I'm contiplating doing the ifs hub mod to while I have it apart. Then I'm gonna have to put in an ifs rear axle. Since I'm upgrading the front brakes I just as well put discs in the back too, shits just a snowball effect!

    I know what you mean.

You have a 1st gen pickup right? I recommend upgrading to a dual diaphram booster, which might take a little work to fit, 1/4" spacer or something like that, you can read about it on pirate. Also get a 1" bore master cylinder, manual prop. valve, and ditch the lspv if you havent already. You may also need a residual valve with rear disks.

Yea, it's an '82. I do have the 1" MC that I'm going to put on when I rebuild the front axle. I'll look into the brake booster. Plan us to have it sitting on 37's next summer so I'd like to have as much braking power as can. I was going to add a prop valve when I did the rear discs. But I should do it while I have the brake system apart. Thanks for the advice!

No problem, I did tons of research on Pirate. I got my prop. valve from FROR, they include adapter fittings.

I started cleaning up all the parts to get ready to put it back together tomorrow, and realized I am missing an index washer for the spindle nuts . None of the gaskets were replaced with the front axle rebuild kit. I kind of just ignored that since I will be doing it right this time, but now I am just pissed. Nobody will touch my trucks again unless I absolutely trust them, I am sick of paying people to fuck up. Rant/

The one index washer I have seems pitted pretty bad so I ordered 2 spindle nut kits from rockauto.com.

I didn't work today so I got most of the frame POR-15ed, painted my tie-rod red , and cleaned up the inner knuckle parts. I will get back at it tomorrow replacing the steering arm studs, hub studs, and cleaning/painting the knuckles, and finishing the frame paint.

Who rebuilt it last time? Hard to find people that do trustworthy stuff.

Carolina Truggies. I talked to them about just setting up the suspension and letting me rebuild the axle but they convinced me to let them do it.
