Nice job so far. Check out my 85 build for some inspiration. The 5.29s will make a world of difference.

^ Thanks Chris. I actually have checked out your build, a few times :D. I love your pickup. I think I stole the crown royal shift boot idea from you, IIRC.

Work has finally slowed down so I have some more free time which is nice. Unfortunately I pinched my left sciatic nerve and it causes a lot of pain in my lower back and down my leg so I can't do a whole lot. I managed to get the runner in MJP2 mode so I can pull the 3rd's and work on the brakes while the 3rd's get regeared and locked.

So I pulled the rear drums off and the brakes don't look as bad as I imagined but they do need some attention. The driver side drum came off with a couple taps of the mini sledge, but I had to beat and pry on the passenger side for almost 30 min.

Here is the old drum vs. new

This is as far as I got before the pain got too much. The brake bleeders are seized and I'm not sure what to do about that. I was thinking just break them off and drill out whats left and install new ones. I will try to get back out there later if I'm not hurting too much.

I appreciate it man. I'm gonna need you to come up here and wrench for me while I drink cold beer and watch :p. I don't know how long it will take for the nerve to heal. It could be another week, it could be 2 months. I will do what I can and try to convince some friends to come over and do what I tell them, hopefully I can have this thing in good shape by October.

Next time we get together, I'll have a look at that back of yours if it's still an issue.

Love the runner in MJP2 mode!

^ Sounds good Doc. I have been doing some stretches that help relieve some of the pain.

I did my morning back and leg stretches and got to work. I got the front birf's removed with not too much trouble. I'm ready to pull the front 3rd but I think I will work on the rear tomorrow after work and get both 3rd's ready to pull when I can get a helping hand.

Carolina Truggies packed in some nasty looking butt mud grease. It must be a Jeep thing.

The diff oil was the same color. I'm guessing some of the grease got into the housing during reassembly.

nice looking build! If you are concerned with the hight and beings tippy you could get an ifs rear axle and put spacers in the front. I did that with my 85 and it helped a bunch. Had 6in leafs and 37"s and i never had a problem off camber.

or you could run IFS rear with IFS hubs on the front axle, then put 2" spacers all around, thatd make you very wide!

Thanks man. I have thought about swapping an ifs rear. I probably will eventually.

Yes this is true. I will be running 2.5" backspaced wheels with 1" spacers for now.

I called a buddy over and we got the 3rd's removed without any trouble. Although I am sore as fuck now. Damn this pinched nerve hurts. Going to call up ECGS about getting my 5.29's setup with lockers.

    Don't drink the Diet Coke
