Re: 2016 Taco TRD 4x4 sport dbl cab.
I have a spare electronic key that I want to hide on the vehicle. I've already once locked myself out by mistakenly closing the prelocked tailgate with the keys inside. I live in snow country & the bed of the truck has a locking hard cover & locking tailgate.

I'm thinking of stashing the electronic key inside the bed of the truck in a dry bag inside one of the side wall pockets and hiding the steel tailgate key in a metal magnetic box outside somewhere underneath the body of the truck. ....Any ideas ?? thanks

On my old truck, I put the spare key fob in a gallon ziploc bag, and used black gorilla tape to tape it to the side of the bed cubby, completely encompassing the baggie so you couldn't see it. I could reach my hand up into my bed side and know where to press to unlock it. Very inconspicuous. There was no spare key in there though so worst case, someone could ransack my truck but couldn't easily drive away with it.

I'm seeing 1 minor issue here. Stashing your wireless key somewhere in the truck, what would stop someone from just grabbing the handle, and it unlocking? Unless the 16s didn't have this option, but my 17, if I was anywhere near the truck, anyone could grab the drivers door handle and unlock it.

I had one of these for years
    Clean a spot under vehicle
    Apply Velcro to clean spot
The wallet sticks to it and you can put a car and house key in it.
You can drive over anything and it will not come off.
I too am an expert at locking myself oht

Great idea, you can even buy an H chip key, get it cut and non program and hide it, then nobody can amplify the chip to get access.

I’ve got 10 more blank keys for sale in a week or so.

I had a salesman buddy make a hidden slot in his hood scoop for a hidden key. Did a good job on it. Never would know it was there.

haha that's one of the best combos......hopefully the only time you'd ever need the AAA is if the battery died....
