I may have used GPS incorrectly in my description. Since I refer to it as navigation override, it is an easy transition to refer to it a s GPS override.

For me, in my truck, while moving down the road in normal operation, I can not manually input a new address. However, I can choose from pre established favorites or "Go-home".

If I flip to override, I can manually input a new address or choose point of interest, but turn by turn will not kick in until I flip the switch back to normal operation. Actually it takes about 2 seconds after I flip the switch back to normal operation, the system to catchup and start giving turn by turn.

Try leaving the override flipped on for a while, then try your turn by turn. In the early days of this mod, it was discussed that it takes a little time for the nav system to figure out that you are in fact moving with no speed input. This is a one time thing as long as you leave the override engaged. I leave my override on constantly and turn by turn works just fine.

Currently I have it on a 3 position switch that controls another function. I set it up this way because of conversations I had with JJ. He never said I couldn't leave it in override permanenty, but did say I would need to be able to turn it on and off. so I decided to save some space and share a switch. forward = rear camera on, center = normal, rear = nav override.

I will try leaving it in override for a while and see if it works the same as it does for you.

If this is the case, then a switch really isn't necessary and a person could just cut the wires, tape off the ends and be done with it. ?

Yes, many people simply cut the wire with no switch. I installed a small hidden switch under the steering wheel just in case but I never change it.

anyone ran into this issue? my rear camera sometimes does not work- normally it does not work for 30 seconds- a minute of the truck being started and will start to work after that waiting period ( whether its activated by reverse or switch it will not work, and then will function normally)

sometimes it just doesn't work all together, and sometimes will work without a waiting period.

This is JJs kit, using a front and rear on separate switches ( 2017 sport automatic)

any help is greatly appreciated , hate to rip this thing out, but have gotten into some situations where i needed reverse and it just wasnt working. anything worth checking that may cause this behavior?

I had a very similar issue, the 28 pin going into the head unit dose not click to stay in. I did my best to just push it in as far as possible with both hands and it hasn’t failed for about 2 or 3 weeks now.

Hit up the website contact with questions. I'm sure it's doable. He answers quickly.

anyone with a 2018 safety sense badge have a front camera recommendation? and any close-ups of how you mounted and/or ran wiring?

and are people adding an external fuse block off of the to help with powering the front camera? or just tacking the positive line onto something they find?

See my post just above to someone else. I "tacked" onto the override harness. That way, it's only on when I select the camera.
