is the stock hooks/rings bolt on to the frame? Not the bolts on the bed floor that bolts the bed down, but the ones on the left and right side of bed wall. If so what’s the weight capacity on them? I’m planning on carrying 3 dirt bikes but I feel like it’s too much stress for 3 straps per hook.

I’d be interested to know this as well. I’ve also looked for the ratings for the bed rails themselves but haven’t found any definitive info on this either. Somebody out there must know...

I bet its a steel backing plate on the other side sitting on the plastic bed.
I def cant see your frame... what frame? Its a steel outer skin, and a plastic composite bed right?

Can u see the other side from crawling under the truck and looking up with a light?

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
I believe it's just a steel plate behind the rope hooks....

I put a set in the rear of my bed and just used fender washers that were about 2 inches in diameter on each bolt...2 on each side

They are very handy to use!

They do have steel backplates. 2018, built 11/17.

Even with 3 dirt bikes? That’s 3 tie downs per ring. I’m just afraid there’s too much stress pulling almost 1,000 pound especially if it’s just a plate backing

How and why are you putting a 1,000 pound load on those hooks? I think your load is much lower than that. I assume you are just securing your bikes in an upright position.

I'd suggest d rings on your bed bolts. I had my bike tied down to the bed bolts d rings and even when I went on some mountain trails the 500 pound bike didn't move.

I’d just assume 3 dirt bikes put together has to be at least that weight. Yes all on upright position.

They'd be that weight but you won't be hanging the entire weight from the hooks. Should be fine. You'll be squeezing those bikes in for sure!

Yes, they prolly weigh that much, but you are not hanging that weight on the hooks (I hope). I don't think you are loading the hooks to that degree, and I think you will be fine. What kind of strap do you use to secure the bikes? The ratcheting style straps can allow you to tighten the load much more than necessary.

Yup ratchet straps. Yea that makes sense. I’ll be buying d rings for my next load. Think these are compatible?

My 1999 king cab has these in the spot you pictured which I use all the time. Looks like the 2018 DCLB I have on order doesn't have them. Can you give more detail on the install please? Did you have to drill for them or... ? And if you had a part number that would be a bonus! Thanks!

Yes, those would work. However, you may have to drill the mounting hole slightly bigger if you use the existing bed mounting bolts (not entirely sure).

Have a look at post #17 by @NMTrailRider, looks like good info in the link he posted.

Those hooks can safely hold anything you can fit into that small of a bed. I've hauled heavy bikes for years. You can't possibly honk down on the bikes tight enough to damage anything but the bikes themselves.

The Toyota OEM replacement/upgrade d-rings need to be drilled out a bit if you're using the bed bolts. The Dodge rings you see mentioned on the forum are bed-bolt-ready.
