there was a thread about using spring nuts.
I wanted to use them since I can take them from work. Have tried using them as well, they don't fit properly and depending how tight you go, could force it and end up damaging the rail.

Here are my simple quickfist mounts. Just a bolt through the quickfists with a large washer for some support, then the tnut in the bed rail. I have had these on for 20k miles and they are simple and solid. I have my axe and shovel mounted this way. I used a bolt with a large head to keep it from pulling though when tightened.

What size bolt did you have to use to mount the quick fist the actual mount? I'm not home right now and don't feel like going all the way home then to the store with the mounts to figure it out..

Shovel mount, and extra anchor point. Ordered t-nuts and quick fist on Amazon, and everything else from Home Depot.

Found in 2nd gen area.. made these a few years ago and still work just fine. 1/8"ish plate cut and bent to desired length, t slot nuts off Amazon, hardware from lowes. Not perfect but works great and fits under tonneau. I recommend taking time and painting. I didn't and rusted quick so I sanded and painted later on.

You don't have to go too $pendy on the bed rail nuts. HD has a 5-pack of superstrut spring nuts in 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2 for less than 5 bucks. I use the 3/8. You'll have to show them a little loving on the grinder and then nip the springs back some. I don't have the link anymore, but there are online catalogs for superstrut/unistrut and fittings etc that are just down-right cool to look through.
