thanks, I clicked on the post number and get the link.

If any one else has links, post them up and ill add.

Thanks to all for you help, this is coming along better than I thought, and I hope it helps others as I know I will be using this list myself.

Side note: I stopped at a dealership on my journey yesterday, checked out their tacos on the lot, sales guy comes to chase me off the lot, well sell me something. we talk small talk for a minute or two, as I am getting into my truck I turn and ask, "So are there any issues with these new Tacomas at all?" He quickly replies, no nothing at all, great truck no problems. I chuckle and respond with, no Transmission issues, no hood issues? He says no nothing, why? I responded with, there seems to be some discussion around the web about some trucks having some problems, his now slightly red face says, "we have not had any trucks come back to us with issues." I said good day.

    the long test drive ok
But many have found Ubolts not torque and zerks with no grease.

Sure for more mechanically inclined people no big deal we can do that ourselves. But OP did mention he is not even remotely mechanically inclined

Basicly compiling a list of things to beware of, for some this is not an issue to take care of, but for others we may need the dealer to take care of. And I in no way want to drive anything off the lot that is not ready to go. Why chance it. Well at least that's how I feel about by $35+K, shit that's how I feel about anything I spend my hard earned money on. Now the easy earned money, piss that way, if I ever find any easy earned.

Edit: also I am posting up every ones reasonable thoughts, if you don't agree, that's your perogative.

Anything to add to the list?

Connect to Bluetooth radio with app to see if there are software updates and look for random stereo reboots.

I would climb up in the bed and look at the top of the cab. Mine has 2 deep scratch marks on the top. Never thought about climbing in the back just to look at the top of the cab but I bet I do next time I buy a new truck.

Salesmen hardly know enough info about the product that is in front of them. I don't expect them to know about after sale problems. That is way to high of a threshold, for the salesman I have met in my life.

Not saying all these things ar wrong, I'm putting together resources that I will use when I take delivery of my new vehicle, and I encourage others to do the same. Prices continue to climb, why shouldn't consumers verify there stuff is right?

when I was looking at the dealer the salesman I was talking to ended up telling me straight up if I'm looking at it I probably know more about it than him lol.
He told me straight up he usually only has people coming in for camry, corolla or rav4. So he knows a lot more about those not the truck. Most of his clients come in not knwoing what they want and he has to convince them and show them what could work for them.

Where as I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted.

I always know as much as possible about the product, I am there to buy.

I wish most salesmen were like yours, just honest.

If they don't know, say they don't know. Don't lie about cylinder, HP, options and just make stuff up.
