    yep he was good.
    really nice guy.

I was there last year looking at the 2016 and the rep wasn't all that helpful
Went recently when the 2017 DCOR was announced for canada and went to talk to someone.
Told him what I was interested in.
He gave me his card, told me to email him so he has my info in his computer and as soon as a 2017 DCOR comes on the lot he'll call me to come test drive then I can place my order.

I told him right away though as long as he doesn't hassle me the sale is his. Since you know they're all on commission.

Thanks for the list, I will be picking up my truck tonight and I will use your list as there are a lot of great info here! I have a good torque wrench so I may just go ahead and hit the U bolts on the leaf springs when I get it home.

Great list, great info, and great posts!!! My truck was delivered from another dealer almost 400 miles away and driven to the exchange point by two older men (one in a "chase" vehicle). They let me check it out thoroughly from a visual standpoint before I took delivery. It was (supposedly) pre-delivered by the initial dealer. I bought it through a friend who is a "high-end" used car dealer which saved me a chunk of the dealer "processing" fee and I still got a "new" title on the vehicle. The plastic was still on the seats and they had paper mats in the floor as the POS "deluxe carpeted mats" were still rolled up in the back seat. The truck was white and the original dealer had added a light grey pin strip which I immediately removed when I got it home (along with all those hideous Tacoma badges). Thank you Rich and BDTrims for your great decals. After a couple of weeks, I took it to an "indy" who I trust and he checked most of the points listed in the previous posts. We removed the tires, rotated them, torqued them to spec (by hand), and changed the oil. By then the truck had about 900 miles on the clock. I, like others on this tread, would never let a dealer wash my truck nor rotate the tires as they use a gun and I want it done by hand with a 6 pt. deep socket so those soft lug nuts won't get rounded. I now have 10K+ on the truck and have found a GREAT (certified Toyota) tech at a great dealership. He has performed all the TSB's and resolved all the problems I found out about on TW. First it was the rear window seal that pooched out at the top (replaced), second the plugs to reduce wind noise (installed even though I never had a real issue), checked the transmission fluid level and added 1 qt. (no hassle), then later did the transmission re-flash, and finally replaced a bushing in the right front which squeaked at times. All these were done on separate visits to the dealer and by the same tech. I did take it to the dealer (tech) last week for the 10K service which was free. The "indy" did the 5K service. While there, I asked the tech that with the 10K on the clock am I pretty well "out of the woods" problem wise? His reply was--not really as he said that's when he starts seeing issues on the Tacomas. While it was up on the rack he tried to see the part number on the crank sensor and said that seems to be an issue he has seen and that "supposedly" there is an updated replacement part. I ask him if he would just go on and replace it but he said he couldn't unless I had a problem. I might add that all my visits to the dealership were relatively quick (none over an hour) and the service writers treat customers with respect. Over the last 10 months I have added Raptor rails, WeatherTechs (mats and sunscreen), Toyota mud guards, door sill protectors, tailgate letters, and a Toyota tailpipe extension. I know some reading this (if anyone even did) are thinking "what a putts". But, I have people waiting to buy the truck the minute I am ready to trade (probably for an '18) and I will get used "retail" unless I wreck it like I did my previous truck (Tundra). The one thing that chaps my ass about my truck is that when I bought it (12/15) few dealers in this area were willing to deal on Tacomas. I paid $31,700 otd plus have added slightly over $600 in accessories. IMO, $32,300 for an SR5 V6 DCSB is insane but WTF? My 12' SR5 TRD Tundra didn't cost that much and it had many more accessories such as power rear window, Home Link, etc. But it was too big for my needs plus I hit a solid metal post mail box and did some serious damage to one side. That's MY story and I'm sticking to it!

Ya, I have seen what metal posts can do. This summer some one cleaned out my mailbox, then hit a tree. My mailbox was and is on an steel I-beam. The car was destroyed.

Seems kinda shitty if you ask me. Some poor guy totals his car because you decided to use a steel ibeam.

ya I know, its all my fault that he crossed the road, hit front drivers side, then ran from the accident. Oh and the I-beam probably saved his life. It pushed the car just enough so he only got the side of the tree instead of straight on. But ya, the people who I bought the house from are jerks because they used an I-beam for the mailbox.

The mailbox I hit was mine...jerked it completely out of the ground. Creased the side from the front fender to the rear fender and tore off the driver's side step rail. I was simply pulling out of my driveway..looked to my right (mailbox on left) and turned way toooo short. Oh well, I was tired of the Tundra anyway. I'm surprised the guy above was able to run. IMO, you (nor the previous owners) are NOT a jerk because you value your property and want to protect it. Soon the "nanny state dems" will have us all put rubber mailboxes and fences in and around our houses so the poor drunks won't be harmed when they run through our yards.

Hello guys! Awesome thread. Exactly what I was looking for.

So I'm about to fly down to AZ to pick up my Tacoma on Friday and I'll be bringing this list with me as a checklist.
I had requested my sales guy to have service physically check the ATF level. He said it was only an issue for 2016's so I sent him a service invoice another TW member had posted where his 2017 Tacoma with 3 miles on the odometer was low by a quart. The next day my truck arrives on the lot and I reminded him I wanted the ATF level checked. He said it was done in the morning when the truck arrived. I'm highly skeptical they actually checked the ATF level.

What can I do? Should I insist on have a service report that says they had a technician physically check it?
Am I getting pushback because I technically don't own the truck yet and they don't want to do any service in case I back out last minute?

Refuse to take ownership and give them the cash for the truck until they provide proof, written, or otherwise that it was done. Be willing to walk away, and they won't want to lose the sale. Make sure they do the manual check, not the tech stream.

I am building a house in the country, and would love to used an I-beam for a mailbox. I have an extra one laying around. I've replaced two wooden mailbox posts from people not paying attention, destroying my mailbox, and driving off. I've been told it's illegal not to use a post that can break. The county came down the main farm road I live off of, and replaced all the mailbox posts for free, so they could install break away posts. Not sure what I am going to install. The new house is on a curve, so I'm sure the mailbox will get hit a lot. Maybe a small metal post that won't kill anyone, but will definitely have their car in the body shop.

What kind of posts did they take out? When you say

Option 1- contact the town and see if you can get a free post, but you might not be able to use the I didn't know option

Option 2 - use the beam, maybe have it set further back with the mail box on longer arm off the beam.
Or option 3- I beam but add some wood to the top part that will break off. Only need enough of the beam to get under the bumper.

When the guy hit mine, I asked the investigating officer about using the I-beam and he didn't know why I couldn't. As far as breaking away, the beam was leaning at like a 30 degree angle , so it did give way. Around here it's the plows that have taken it out previously, I bet I have attached that, well two boxes so far, probably 7 times in eight years, But the last couple years havent really had too many storms. I have been very thankful for that beam, it's been loosened up but weebulls wobble but don't fall down.

You brought up a good idea. Use a large beam up to about 2 feet above ground level, then taper to a smaller post or go to wood so it breaks off, but the larger beam makes it so they can't drive off. Also won't have to dig a new hole every time it gets hit.

I can feel your pain! I live in a cul de sac (big circle) and I have nice ornamental trees planted along the edge of the circle, set back about 8 feet.

Well kids love to "drift" their cars around the circle once in awhile. I know I do it too!

But it's the jerkoffs that purposely drive off the pavement and onto my yard with the sole intention of Tearing it up.

So......I have small chicken wire circles, only about 12" high, around my trees to hold the mulch in place. The rest of the area is all seashells. So it looks really nice, these beautiful ornamental trees with dark mulch around them, sitting in a mass of white seashells.

But Jerkoffs will be Jerkoffs and they love destroying people's property just for fun.

Holding each chicken wire circle in place is a pipe, on the side closest to the street, that's sticking up two feet approx.

Well I come out one morning to see the tire marks going across my seashells, pretty much a Trench ten feet long or so......right up to where they ran over One of those pipes.

At that point the trench from their spinning tires comes to an end......

    And a new trail emerges.

OIL THAT IS, as Jed Clampet would say, A NEW TRAIL OF OIL......

Not sure how far they made it, but they were definitely LOW ON OIL.

Sounds confusing. Is the one you want on the lot?

I didn't want mine coming from 200-500 miles away, so I ordered from the Texas factory.

    Ok, here goes.

Monday, get a phone call that the truck will be in Wednesday-Friday. So I talk my way into getting a personal day for Friday so I can deal with banks and finalize every thing.

Wednesday, get a message truck is in. The family goes in and test drives in the afternoon.
    IMG_1427.jpg
Got in a 25 plus mile drive. got it out on the highway, cleared the speed limit easily. Took it through some in stop and go traffic lights.
    https://youtu.be/0fKIdrFC6hU
then to a little field near my house, used 4 high and 4 low
    https://youtu.be/eXn_JAhQyWw

then back to the dealership, where the first words from the sales guy, where did you go?

    IMG_1429.jpg

    IMG_1435.jpg

I remind the sales guy that I will be in Friday morning to finalize this. He then tells me there is some stuff to sign, I remind him again that I will be in Friday Morning to finalize this, we agree to 9 am, then talk about getting some tires that this truck deserves.

Thursday morning, I reach out requesting the dealership send a purchase order to my credit union who has already approved me for a loan (2.9%) and OK the tires to be put on. Get a call from my sales guy, stating that they can not send over a purchase order because I didn't come in and sign stuff on Wednesday. I say ok, and discuss that if the tires are not on the truck by noon Friday, I don't want them, as we will be leaving shortly after that. See ya on Friday.
I get approved for another loan now looking at 2.74% but haven't accepted yet.

Friday Morning, I get to the dealership just after 9, BS for a few minutes, then asked how am I paying for this. I state as you know my credit union is just waiting on you, I am also going to let you take a run at financing as well. Then I am told we can not proceed with out my wife there as well. I tell them that once all the paperwork is done and all we need is for her to sign, she will come in by 4 at the latest, but earlier if possible. Told No that won't work, she needs to be here. I explain that this is not going to happen, we agree that I will do the prep work and she will only need to sign and listen to a few things, but it will be quick.

During this conversation, the back up that came to support the sales guy asked me about my current finance rates. I snapped back, why would I share this with him, I want to know what he can offer me. His snide remark back was along the lines of so I can tell the banks what they need to beat. I know sometimes this can be true, but in this situation I expect that its more so he know how high of a rate he can charge me. As I figure I am already at a good place I tell him, he then responds with I will try to get you 2.65, but it will probably be like 2.70.

Once we start the paperwork, the first thing presented to me has the OTD price of 22K, I pointed out that its 21,350 that our final agreement was. My sales guy was not part of this conversation back in August, so I can kind of let that one pass. But he starts questioning me, like are you sure, well is that after your deposit. I explain how that price was matching an offer I got elsewhere, I even pull up the info on my phone from the other dealership, and the sales guy is like let me see that. So he finally gets up to go check on this, after about 5 minutes and a few people being pulled in to the command center, he comes back with the 21,350 as agreed to, with something about how it was never written down and the guy had it in his head.

So after an hour of paperwork, I discuss when my wife will probably get to come in and how she will have very limited time. I then leave head home to get something I forgot and then go into work (unpaid) to help my wife as we work together in the school. Because I spend two and a half hours there she is able to sneak out for about 20 minutes. On the way to the dealership, I text my sales guy letting him know we are on our way (will be there before the 1 o'clock agreed upon time). we get there, after about 5 minutes of BS, he gives my wife the paperwork to sign, she does, and off he goes. Comes back about 5 minutes later, when I inform/remind him my wife only has about 10 minutes. He leaves and comes back to say this will take more than 10 minutes. With out say anything, both my wife and I get up and walk out. While heading out she asks now what, I respond with Maybe next week, I don't know. We both get into our vehicles, and I tear out of there. With-in minutes my sales guy calls, his message said something about he doesn't understand why I am mad as buying a car is not a fast experience and it should only take 30 to 45 minutes.

I went home, wrote a pissed off nasty email, but didn't send it. Once my wife got home she edited it and now we had an better worded angry email. I sent the link to the letter to the owner of Prime Motor Group, and meant to send it to my sales guy and his 2 sales managers, but it did not get sent to them for some reason.

Shortly later I get a call from the dealership, that I ignore and let it go to voicemail. a few minutes later I get another call from a number I don't recognize, so again ignore, but no message left. Once I listen to the message, Its the sales manager that set the 21,350 price back in August, stating he doesn't know what happened just that I reached out to the owner, and could I please reach out so we can talk about this.

Saturday morning, I send and email with the just the week recap as I posted above. I also send the other one, stating I just now realized it was not sent already. Later on I got an email back stating he can see my issue after all the things I pointed out that he will do what it takes to earn my business. He is willing to deliver the truck to me, if if it requires driving through 3 states, and also offered to take 300 off.

During the day Saturday, I secured a 25k loan at 1.74% for 60 months. So I plan to email in the morning, stating that I want the truck, and I already have a decent price and I don't want to lose it, so as soon as the money gets wired into my account (coming from west coast) I will get a payment to them.

Swung by the dealership and took these.
