I've searched through the tire/wheel forum and wasn't able to find anything for "on-highway" tires. We'll need to replace our OEM tires soon on our '09 TRD 2x4. Since we don't do any off-road driving, I'm looking for a highway tire. Our primary need is a quiet tire with decent wear (40-50K)

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Ray

    Michelin LTX MS2.

The tires will rot before you need to replace them.

It's a highway tire that looks like an AT tire.

    Just a few minor things.
Got a set on mine. Ran the LTX MS on my last truck. Lasted almost six years. Can't go wrong with Michelin products.

I had a 100k on my Michelin ms2's on my 2000 tundra and they still had good tread on them. No trouble with them what so ever. Very quite.

Michelin tires are great and so are the Firestone destination Le2. Great road tire and 10,000 mile more tread warranty then the Michelin Ms2.

What he said....very good street tire (P rated) 50k warranty, had them on my Tundra for the last 25k and they work very well in dry, snow, and wet along with mild off road. Nice quiet good handling tire.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Nothing comes close to Michelin ms2!
Do a search, they have a nearly cult following.

Was just about to open a thread asking what folks thought about the Michelin LTX A/T 2 versus the MS2's. I'm close to pulling the trigger. Just cannot decide which one! Ugh! LOL

I'll likely be driving 90% on paved roads (usually 55-70mph) for my daily commute. I'm reading RAVE reviews on the Michelin A/T2 and MS2 tires so I'm sure I can't go wrong either way.

The MS2 has a 720 tread wear rating. The A/T2 has a 500 tread wear rating. That said, I'm hearing folks claim 90-100k miles on A/T2 tires?? That seems insane.

I'd love a true year round tire. Today, April 15th, we had 4+ inches of snow in Montana this morning. My Dunlop AT20's that came with the truck were okay, but I had to use 4WD High once to get the truck moving (had to yield to a firetruck). Once in 4WD I was fine.

But I'd still like a tire that's good off-road if I go camping, hunting, looking for hiking trails. No rock climbing. ;)

Any input on whether I should take the A/T2 or MS2? Local Toyota dealer wants me to mount 265/70-16 on my SR5 16" rims (Dunlops are 245/75-16).

If your're doing mostly highway stick with the P245/75R16, you'll get the best mileage, and acceleration with that size (the lightest).
I've got sets of both LTX M/S2 and LTX A/T2. The M/S2 is a tiny bit quieter and the A/T2 is a tiny bit better offroad. They both last a very long time compared with other brands. I don't expect I will have to buy new tires for years to come.
