Bilstein 5100 Installation

    Anyone know if a Toyota Dealership will install front 5100s? Im afraid they might not because they will be lifting the truck. Anyone tried before?

    What price can I expect to get the front shocks replaced? Will it require an alignment? I really dont feel comfortable using a spring compressor. I did the back by myself.

    I tried talking to a couple of local auto shops and they dont really like installing parts that they didnt provide.

    Oh Yeah!!!
    You are looking at a good 2-3 hrs labor. Dealer should install without any issues. But they will charge an arm & a leg. If they give you any BS, ask why they warranty the Pro Comp 6" lifts.

    My advice is to go for it. Not that hard, trial and error may come into play, but way cheaper than a $300-$400 install fee.

    You can totally do it yourself without much output of money...I went to a local Firestone with all the parts (the only real issue is getting the springs and top plates off your truck now- unless you have a second set) and they set up the struts for me...Everything else was just bolts and sweat.

    Yes-If you are lifting you need an alignment.

    dont get the stealership to replace the front 5100's.....i was quoted $300, and they already had some of the front end apart cause they were replacing my lower ball joints in the recall.....so i took the coil assembly off myself and got a shop to swap the shocks out....$40.

    Does the dealership charge $300 to replace front shocks no matter what, or is it just because they are 5100s? Because that seems awful high considering I was quote like $100 for rears from a local shop.

    Rears are a simple bolts out, parts swap, bolts in.
    The fronts require some additional parts to be moved and the building the struts back up. And at the shop labor rate- 300 comes quick....

    I got quoted $600 at my local dealer ship for the install of front bilsteins. LMFAO!!

    I just called the dealership and was quote $144 for install of two front shocks.

    Is it worth it to have them install for that price?

    Looks like most of you were getting prices over $300.

    BTW, the $144 does not include alignment, but Im sure an alignment can be had for under $100.

    I got all of my stuff (excluding the parts) done for $89.00+ a $60.00 alignment


    $210 for 5100 and AAL
    and $936.00 for my tires

    Come do it for me, Ill gladly pay $89.

    I did a rear AAL and the Rear shocks myself. Not sure I trust myself with the spring compressor.

    Plus I had instructions for the rear. You got any instructions for the front, maybe its easier than I thought.

    Chris4x4 and PackerfanXD put up a tutorial on how to change out the front struts.


    Follow that and you will be a-ok :thumbsup:

    The spring compressor might sound bad but just make sure you tighten the bolts on the compressor at the same torque and nothing will go bad (knocking on wood)

    Yeah they should... all suspension components are basically the same... the only thing that might be different is the bolt size, coil size etc

    the front 5100 are adjustable.

    Notches:
    1st- 0"
    2nd-.85"
    3rd- 1.65"
    4th- 2.25


    Or somewhere close to those measurements

    if you want 2.5" in the rear your going to have to get AAL and maybe a 1" block
