black out rims

    nothing....yet
    i want to paint my rims black. so should i sand them down first (if so do i use a fine grit sandpaper). and then i know i need to primer before i paint. but how many coats of primer just 1? any help would be much appreciated

    Yea 220 grit sand paper 1 coat of primer and I did 3 coats of black satin spray paint

    I have some photos tht r updated. They r holding up great. I cleaned off the rim and sanded it for about 30 seconds each

    Bull Bar, Hella Lights, AiRaid cold air intake
    All paint work is 5% painting and 95% prep work. How much you sand depends on the condition of the surface currently. I would make sure you have sanded all parts equally. Use a good paint prep cleaner and spray 2-3 coats of primer. Then 3-4 thin coats of paint. Don't forget the inside.

    i've seen pics of stock wheels painted black i think it will look good and will save me money for other more important things like lift, tires, sliders and what not

    I washed. Wet sanded 600 grit. Used duplicolor prep wipes and two coats (weather was not helping) of duplicolor low gloss engine enamel. It has held up perfectly. Only trouble I had was scratching the lugs while putting wheels back on[​IMG]
