Hey this is a great post. I'm no where near talented to do my own but I did use your instructions to get the factory lights off. I do have one suggestion.. I still have all the wheel well plastic and found it REAL hard to get the socket and my hand where it needed to be to get that bolt off, so I made my own tool. I used a 7/16 socket, but instead of the wrench, I used a hex wrench. It was much smaller and worked like a charm.. Hope this might help someone.

I need help! How do you pull out the main bulb with the rubber stuff that holds it in place. I took out all the other bulbs. I'm just having hard time with the main bulb and the rubber thing that holds it in. I took out the 3 little hexagon screws already. The other 2 bigger hexagons screws...are those suppose to be on there while in the oven?

yep, take all bulbs out - take any small foam, and or plastic clips off the back or they will melt. The weatherstripping is fine to leave in place. Remember to turn the oven off, then put the headlight in the oven. 315, for 10-12 minutes, use a towel to remove the headlight, and then pry it apart. it'll be hot, but just use steady pressure, it'll come apart.

Thanks! I put it in the over a 300 for 10 minutes but still wouldn't budge. I'll try it 315 this time. About the bigger hexagon screw...that will come off after the baking right? I tried to unscrew before putting it inside the oven but it just kept spinning but did not come out of its holding.

What hexagon screw? I think you just tried taking out the beam adjustment screw. If so, you are going to need to have your headlight beams readjusted.

I was referring to the two 8mm screws that kept spinning in circles and wouldn't come out of the holding.

Guys i always think about doing this mod but the only thing that stops me is the fear of condensation! I installed a third brake light and at first condensation was a bitch but i got it under control after, but if i do this mod and get condensation in my headlights it will drive me crazy. Can anybody give me any feedback on the subject?

I've been reading how to do the BHLM on my 2005 double cab sport, and I want to black out the tails too. But I dont want to paint the outside of the lense, I want to do the inside and leave the outside clear plastic. Would the same method for the BHLM work to seperate the housing work to get it apart? (i.e. oven method) Anyone done this? If so I'd like to see some pics fer sher.

Same method doesn't work. You have to take a dremel and cut them apart.

I started on it a while back, haven't gotten around to finishing yet, but there are a few photos in there from someone else that has completed it.

I just finished my BHLM and one my right headlight is fogging. I didn't put enough pressure on it when I placed it back together. I have to do it over. The hardest part to me was removing the headlights from the car. That bolt that you can't really if you don't pull out the fender is a BIATCH!

Dang, I'm not to keen on the idea of taking a dremel to my shizit. Your do look legit though. What about just tinting them with window tint from autozone or advance? Would that even stick on the outside and exposed to the elements?
