Blackout/Chrome Delete Vendors/Results

Creating a thread for various blackout/chrome delete experiences, share pics of what you have done and what companies you have had good results with (and ones that you havent) I know there are some misc threads with similar, yet figured might be worthwhile to have a thread on the topic.


Looking to blackout emblems on a 2021 DCLB S5 which has too much chrome on my cement taco

Exterior I removed all my emblems, Added Amazon tailgate letter inserts and SEMA TRD 17" wheels

MESO makes some good products, but the problem there is spotty availability.

I used the MESO interior door handle overlays. Perfect fit. The black color matches the surroundings.

I also used the MESO vent rings and 4x4 ring, but was unable to get the color I wanted (Magnetic Gray Metallic). So I got the black vent rings and painted them MGM. For the 4x4 ring, I ordered it in MGM, but the molded-in color wasn't exact, so I painted it MGM anyway. All this worked out great. The MGM is a close match to the graphite color elsewhere on the dash.

I used the AJT Designs steering wheel emblem overlay.

Having a manual transmission, I wasn't able to find a replacement cupholder surround anywhere (nobody makes one). So, my only alternative was to strip the chrome from the OEM one, and repaint. (This involved soaking the part in strong bleach for 2 weeks.)

 

meso makes the cleanest/best looking products. AJT rings/knobs look pretty tacky to me and the vinyls you can find online are a pain in the ass to apply and will never look as good as the meso parts.

does anyone know the OEM part # or if theres a replacement (not a tough skinz overlay) in black for the door switch panel, climate control knob face plate, and center console transmission housing piece? I've found the dash trim pieces in black from different toyota websites already. Product ID: 55476-04010-C1 and Product ID: 55474-04020-C1.

@MESO is the mayor of Tacoma World. A+ quality, great customer service, fair prices, but the attention to detail is what separates his gear from the rest. Every little snag you could hit has been thought of and addressed and that’s what folks like me need haha.

It needs updated but check my build page for a ton of blackout products. I agree with what’s been said about AJT. I’ve tried their stuff and it looks ok but I wouldn’t vouch for the mediocre quality and even with their stuff I did like/keep, the customer service was below mediocre. Cali Raised is popular and carries Meso and other company’s products but their customer service is bad and a lot of products are overpriced. I really bounced on them when TW members started posting their EXACT same Chinese made products on Amazon for 1/6 the price haha.

Those are probably the 3 most popular but google around for tons of options and holler if you have any ?s!

 

I just ordered some "Tacoma Lifestyle" blacked out replacement turn signal lights for the rear view mirrors. I would have bought the Meso lights but they don't offer a sequential model yet.

 

Another vote for anything made by MESO. Ive been impressed with everything I’ve gotten from him. I have the turn signals, total tails, vent rings, climate control rings, steering wheel emblem cover, door handle covers, 4wd trim, PTS trim, cup surround, and shifter trim. Oh, and the gasshole lol. Everything has been top notch.

Had black SCS Rims (BR6) but I love the dark bronze so I got a set of dark bronze BR6s and sold the black ones. The only thing I have left is the decals on the side of the bed, but I haven't decided what I want to do there yet. Not doing anything to the tail lights as there is no chrome in the 19's lights.

 

Does anyone know where I can get a steering wheel emblem blackout overlay?

 

MESO and AJT both had them at one time, but they seem to sold out. There are a few different options on ebay like the one below.

Thanks I may give eBay a try. I’ve been watching the others you mentioned but doesn’t seem like they will have them anymore due to copyright issues.
