    Hey Gang,

I searched and found a lot of info on the notorious tick/click sound some of us hear when we apply the brakes, but that is not my issue here just to be clear. I replaced my rotors and pads up front before the wife took a road trip to New Mexico and Colorado. I got my parts from a local parts store and and didn't buy from Toyota just to be clear. She never complained on the trip of the sound and I didn't start noticing it until a week after she returned. Brakes feel fine; no warping/shuttering, and the truck stops straight.

    How to replicate the sound

Simply driving down the road the sound starts up around 20 - 25 mph and the ticking gets faster and faster as I gain speed. Its only happening on the Passenger Side as well. As soon as I touch the brakes, the sound stops entirely.

    From my searches I found:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/138971-front-passenger-brake-clicking.html

and this one that is similar to my issue:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/wheels-tires/8727-ticking-noise-drivers-front-wheel.html

I took off the passenger wheel this past weekend to inspect everything ensuring it wasn't a wheel bearing, CV boot etc. All the above is fine. The clips on the calipers are in tact and the spring clip is as well. I pried on the rotor a bit with my hands just to see if it was loose or if something wasn't tightened down properly, but didn't notice any issues.

However, the one thing I did notice was the bore on the rotors as there is just a little bit of play with the wheel off. I can move the rotor clockwise or counter-clock wise just a little bit and thought that might have something to do with it? On other cars I've done I have not noticed as much "play" with a rotor so this is my thinking on this.....

I put the wheel back on, got out my torque wrench and ensured the lugs were torqued to spec. Took the truck for a drive and before I even got off my neighborhood street I could hear the ticking again from the passenger side.

Its driving me NUTS!!!! Anybody offer some help on what I can do or check to get rid of this issue?

    :help: !!!!

You ever jack up the truck and spin the wheel you think is making the noise?

That clockwise and counter clockwise movement of the rotor is normal.

Make sure you have everything bolted tight and all pins are in place

Will do fellas; thanks for the responses.

I didn't spin the wheel&tire while I had it jacked up; that's a good idea to see if i can replicate the sound.

Will report back if I find anything.

Yes in fact that was my first assumption, but while the wheel and tire was off the truck I looked and didn't find anything. Also as I mentioned in my OP, the sound stops with the slightest touch to the brake peddle......
