Not judging but do a search on TW and you'll see it does happen. Trying to save the OP some hassle. Oh and one more idea....Fumoto valve

I guess cause people make mistakes and underneath the truck the drain plugs are near each other. Do a search and you'll see

Yes that mistake happens, but only when someone simply sees "a plug" and pulls it out. If you look upward from the plug, you will see either an engine or a transmission.

Another oil thread. Well lets just all get Subarus and argue over blackstone results.

Here is an example of an oil pan attached to an engine:

Seems pretty obvious, maybe just me. Not trying to make fun of anyone.
If you are paying attention and not just unscrewing the first plug you see, this won't happen.
If it does happen, it's pretty much guaranteed to never happen again :)

Question. Have you actually been under your truck?

Good diagram of transmission fill/drain/check here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-full-flush-for-automatic-transmission.68462/

Both differentails and transfer case can be found here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/front-diff-and-transfer-case-oil-change-howto.147631/

Seriously man, just get under your truck and look at shit first so you know what you're talking about when asking. If you are clueless and can't spell car just pick up a Haynes manual for your vehicle. It will walk you through basic and semi advanced tasks with decent pictures. The Tacoma is just like any other 4WD vehicle out there. A few perks with some items and drawbacks with others. Get under it and look around.

The reason I use Mobil 1 is because if I am ever on the road and I find out that Im low I can go to virtually any store and find it. Except Pier 1 Imports. They always seem to be out of stock when Im shopping for my wife...I mean girlfriend....Ok I really like the wicker umbrella stands. They really bring out the view of the interstate from my studio. Im so depressed, Im gonna eat chocolate froyo and watch The Notebook, again, alone, while Im crying.

The oil advertised on the car is not necessarily the oil used in the car, or tires or whatever.

From the thread between the 2 pieces. It looked ok until it was in there a while and started leaking.
I returned it for 2 reasons, the leak and it stuck out quite a ways and I was worried it would catch off road on
    something.

This may be true for motor oil or other items where you cannot see a label/brand name on the product in use. But for tires, which are clearly labeled and visible, I think the race teams have to use the sponsor brand.

There are no Blackstone results from Subaru cars. Most of them just burn up their oil.

Actually, at that level of racing (LMP1, Formula One, etc.), the fuel and oil mfr works with the carmaker to develop special formulations. Part of the reason LMP1-H costs $400 million a year and VAG can't afford to run both Porsche and Audi teams.

Toyota has been with Exxon and Mobil for a long time:

Full synthetic has many proven advantages.
I've used Amsoil signature full synthetic (25k/1 year) for many years, change every 10 months regardless of miles but have changed the filter every 5 months... Have used Napa gold... Problem free on all vehicles.
The 1 year change interval filters are available for my 2016 so I'll be switching to that next.

Use any brand of oil you want, just make sure you change it at proper intervals and you will be fine...easy peezy!
