At a thousand miles I re torqued everything I could. I had a similar noise up front, and I think it was the front diff, it was way out if spec. Also pull your skid plate, there is almost no clearance with or without lift. Combination of no clearance on the skid and loose diff bolts maybe.

I think the noise you're referring to is when you are in neutral or clutch depressed.if in gear and going over bumps I don't hear the clanking but in neutral coasting over bumps I hear it. It's normal. If you get under and rotate the driveshaft when you grease the zerks it's the same noise.

I just went through this.... lower shock bushing goes bad.. rubber tears and causes clicking/clunking noise over dips and bumps dealer didn't want to warranty front shocks on my "trd Off-road" because it was offroaded. I had a set of fox coilovers sitting in my garage so it was all good.

What lower bushings are you referring to?

This noise happens when I pull into my driveway. It's the "honey, I'm home" alert. I didn't find any mention of it in the manual.

Mine does it. If dealer can't repeat it they aren't interested in fixing it. I showed them the video and my own audio clip. Told them it was the shock mount. Since there aren't any road humps near the dealership we couldn't make it do it. Won't even look at the mount if they don't hear it. Worried about who pays for it. Them or Toyota. At that point I told him to forget it. Putting on 5100's soon to make it go away.

Still having this issue. I can tell you what it's not...

not brakes - happens even with brake pressed
not shocks - have had bilsteins, toytec and now kings
    not sway bar - torqued
not skid plate - replaced with TRD pro skid
not diff - removed diff drop and torqued

Any other ideas? Its really annoying offroad, like the truck is falling apart.

Heres a list that may or may not help but worth a shot.

    Plastic engine cover

Center hub caps (if you have stock tires)

Sticky weights, they can loosen sometimes

Check engine bay for loose bolts

Mud flaps! Make sure they are not loose

Might sound dumb but if you have double cab make sure the seat belts are not hitting the walls in the back

Thanks, I've checked off most of these. It is definitely a metal-on-metal sound from the front end. I'll try to get a gopro down there.

Did you check your front body mounts?

I will check that. Could it really come from the factory like that?

My 15 made the same noise. Dealer couldnt replicate it. I just had to deal with it. I was excited when my lease was up I could get into the 3rd gen. My 17 has the exact noise of my 15.

Not from the factory, but I've heard they can deteriorate quickly. Some polyurethane bushings will last much longer.

While I don't have a camera to mount under the truck, the video sounds very similar - metallic clank going over small bumps at low speed. Wobbling the stick in neutral makes a similar noise. Has this been happening to both A/T and M/T trucks?

Exactly... sounds like changing gears or wobbling the stick. I have a M/T.
