Wondering if anyone else has an issue with their clutch pedal not retracting back into place. Mine will get stuck sometimes and I have to lift it back into place with my foot. I replaced the clutch hydraulic master cylinder thinking that would do the trick but still the pedal will fall from time to time not return to its position. Any Idea's what to look at next.

the return spring in the pedal assembly has gotten weak or missing, you can add a secondary to the end of the pin that the clutch master yoke to the pedal and connect other end to lower dash bar
My 3rd gen 4Runner was doing same thing, that is how i fixed it

Mine is doing the same and I replaced master and slave cylinder. I also just replaced the clutch pedal assembly because I never had that bushing so it wore back a ways and thought it was catching on that. But still gets stuck down and I have to pull it back up. I'll try to add another spring to mine as well.

Thank you all for the trouble shooting tips. I'm going to take a look at the springs like suggested. If it will get rid of the squeak that would be a double bonus.

When I experienced the same symptom, the cause was the slave cylinder. Inexpensive part, easy fix.

I disassembled the slave cylinder and found some corrosion inside. Fluid flushes are good PM.

I have been dealing with a similar issue in my 2007 RWD 5-speed 4cyl. If I push the clutch all the way to the floor it will stick down but when I release it (by hand or foot) it gets stuck in an upright position and won't budge for up to two days. I have learned to live with this my never pushing my clutch past a certain point. Sometimes if I feel it is about to get stuck I can pump it fairly forcefully and get it moving again.

I have had the master cylinder replaced and the slave cylinder as well. I am hoping to hear some thoughts before I eventually look to having the clutch completely replaced.

When it gets stuck look at the position of the clutch fork. Is it stuck in whatever position position you last had it in ie in or out vs. returned to the normal position that coincides with the pedal position? If the fork and the pedal positions don't coincide with one another it could be a mechanical issue with the pedal assembly in the cab. If they jive with one another you could have another more serious problem inside the transmission with the parts of the clutch inside there.
