This is for Tundra Trucks. Anyone has a Tundra emblem I can borrow?

12' Tacoma's suffer from the same issue that the Tundra's did with water messing up the pump. If you listen to a 13' up tacoma when the truck is shut off the pump will activate to evacuate and residual moisture. Toyota's answer to the moisture problem in the pumps, wish the 12' pumps did this, I to had the same code. Should very well be covered under the emissions warranty I would think like others stated. Mine happened when I was under the 3/36k warranty. Good luck op and stay on them to fix it, Toyota knows they have an issue with these pumps.

The pump intake should be drawing in good clean air from where the air filter is located. Instead it's drawing air from all the road debris, road salt, and water. If the system is currently working and your warrenty is up. I suggest everyone to consider in getting a Hewitt by-pass kit. It's design to let the ECM know the secondary air injection pump & valve are operational, but it disables this system from running. https://www.hewitt-tech.com/store/

Awesome to hear! This can be an expensive fix so glad to see Toyota is picking up the tab for you.

Realize this is an old thread, but just wanted to give an update as I got the P2441 CEL code over the weekend on my 2012 Taco.

I just got out of the dealership.

They diagnosed it as the valves, not the pump. Pump would be covered under power train warranty, valves are under the 3 year emissions warranty. Unless you are in California (which unfortunately I am not) then it falls under the 8 year emissions warranty.

Parts are 700 and change, double it with labor. I called the national customer service line and they confirmed what the dealership told me. They did say they will try and work to get me a discount. I pick it up tomorrow, so we'll see.

Anyhow, hope that gives some clarification for anyone else that runs into this thread.

    Hi guys,
Reviving this thread before starting a new one.

Got p2441 last week. Changed what i believe was the vacuum switching valve (VSV). Reset codes after several days of waiting for them to turn off by themselves. After a day lights are back on (ck enging & trac off). Research would suggest the air switching valves are the next item to check. Just wanted to see if there was anything else to check or a way to determine for sure its the air switching valves. Thanks for any help.

My 2012 Tacoma with 94k miles had this code. Both the CEL & TRAC lights were on. At first dealer said it was not covered and would be $1,100 to repair stating that the air injection pump needed to be replaced. I mentioned some of the comments in this post and the similar Tundra issue that Toyota is extending the warranty to cover. The service writer at the dealer called Toyota and they agreed to cover it! It cost me ZERO to have this fixed. Thanks guys!

Please read through this. Certain 2012 models. 10 years, regardless of mileage.

Have the same P2441 code on my 2012 Tacoma..dealer said to be covered by Toyota it would have to throw a P2440, 2443 or 2445. The difference is valve stuck open or closed. Called customer service and made my case. After review they made a good will offer to pay half. Can't give reason why program only covers valve stuck open and not closed. Bottom line the system has to be replaced either way..so why not be a stand up company and cover the repair.

I recently had been having intermittent codes and all was looking like the Switching valve
was failing. Took the advise on this forum and took it to the dealer Toyota of Orlando.
They ran the VIN and told me the Campaign for the SAIS failures were covered on my truck.
2012 4.0 Prerunner 83K miles. Both the switching valve assembly and the air pump were replaced
and did not cost me a penny. This was less than 3 weeks ago.
My codes were : 2440 and 2442 and limp mode

Started seeing this code recently and have just been clearing it intermittently to see if the valve would fix itself. No luck. Talking with the dealership now with the warranty update in hand to see if its still covered. (at 9 years so hopefully they will still honor it). They need to see it in person however. Will try and keep the post updated with new info.

Got the dreaded p2441 on my 2014 TRDOR last week. Called the dealer today. They see the recall, but said I first need to come in for an inspection. Have an appointment for 2 days from now, but I have a few questions for the brain-trust.

I've already cleared the code. Were it to not return between now and the appointment would that be an issue at inspection?

I have an aftermarket CAI installed, will that affect their willingness to compete the repair?

Same question but regarding the uni filter?

No coverage says the all knowing toyota service guy. Said it was only affecting the 3rd gens? I explained that was outright wrong info, got the # for toyota customer service, amd now I gotta raise some hell.

As far as I know the customer satisfaction campaign/extended warranty for the secondary air system only covered 2012 V6 trucks, 13-15 models were not included.
