It'll never happen though. At least not as a primary residence. My wife enjoys and needs the social interactions she has with friends in the city. Whereas if I don't see a single person for an entire week, I'm just fine and happy.

 

We are planning on spending 2 days with a realtor in Parker/Elizabeth, and then randomly look at homes on the way up to FoCo. Longmount, etc. Don't know where all of the new construction is yet, only so much planning you can do on the web before you just show up and see for yourself.

And about the humidity, it's just as awful as everything thinks it is who has not been here. I went outside this morning at 7:30 to finish working on my truck and was hit with 98% humidity and 84 degree temps. Only 2 frogs decided to make my truck their home overnight, so I guess that was a "plus"....can't wait to move, so sick of this.

 

I'm assuming you're in the tech industry? Although there are quite a few tech jobs in the DTC, there are plenty in the metro area that are not. I don't know that I would hinge where I live on the "just in case" scenario with your job unless you forsee it not lasting long term.

 

It sounds like we're pretty similar in all of what you just said.

Prepare for nosebleeds! from the dryness and altitude lol. Although it's actually been humid here lately because it's been raining almost every day but that's unusual. Nothing like Florida though.

 

Yes, I'm a network engineer and work from home now. The company could care less where you work as long as you do your job. The only requirement is a stable internet connection (fingers crossed for comcast) and an airport somewhere I'm willing to drive to.

The "in case" is just that, in case I want to pursue a different opportunity. I don't want to pigeon hole myself into this company by living 2 hours from civilization is all. We are approaching this move with the idea that we will retire here, Colorado has been on our radar for 5 years, and with no kids I'd like to move sooner than later.

 

I've had comcast for 2 years without a single service issue. Only issue I had was getting the damn account straight with their billing dept in the beginning.

As far as I know, there are plenty of tech related opportunities in the metro area. I would choose where I wanted to live first, and then look for the jobs that are within driving distance from there if a job change was necessary. Rather than guessing where my possible future, maybe job might be and limiting where I can look for a house. (just my .02 though)
