I have a 07 tacoma with 18,000mi, v6, 4wd, all stock. It has some electrical problems that the dealer can't seem to fix. You will be driving along and the dash lights will start to come on. Most of the time it will be the air bag, abs, and brake will come on, and then the radio will shut off. If I turn a blinker on the truck will surge and almost die. If I turn on the lights the ignition will cut out and the truck will die. I can jump start it and get it to run for a while, and then it starts all over again.

The last time it left me sit and was towed to the dealer they put a new alt relay on it. It ran fine for 4 months and now its doing the same thing again!

It seems something in the electrical system is not working, and it drawing power from the ignition system. Any ideas???

    Thanks!

Wow, this almost seems like something is grounding out somewhere. Should have them check the alternator circuit for a power draw or discontinuity.

What made them assume alternator relay the first time?

When it first happened I made it home and charged the battery then took it to the dealer. They told me I was crazy, and there was nothing wrong. It ran a couple of weeks, maybe longer without any problems. Then it acted up again and left me sit. So I called and had it towed in. I "think" it threw some codes. Guess that lead them to the alt relay.

Not much fun having an almost new truck and never knowing if it's going to leave you sit or not, and no help from the dealer!

Have you checked all the fuses with a fuse checker. This same thing was happening to mine, minus the brake light. When I checked all the fuses it cleared up, so it could be a loose fuse.

I would wonder if it is a faulty ignition switch.
