I had the dealer install a hood protector when I bought my tacoma new. Now it has chipped the paint on the leading edge of the hood. Has anyone had this happen to them and have you gone to the dealer yet to see what they will do about it.

Yep. When I bought the truck mine had that stupid bug deflector/paint scratcher thing. When I took it off you could see where the brackets scratched the paint.

When my truck was in the body shop a few weeks ago from hitting a deer they actually repainted the hood for me without asking. I assume to blend the paint. Its fixed now :D no more scratches

I'm betting the dealer installed it wrong. Can you please post a pic of where the scratch is. Either one of you if you can.

That happened to me and I just had my hood repainted last week. Even though I was five days past my 3yr/36,000mi warranty, Toyota painted the hood for free.
