I think after constantly looking over pics and reading info on this great site I have finally decided on my set-up. I will be running the Bilstein leveling 5100 shocks on front and rear with 17 x 9 chrome 955 Moto Metals wrapped with MTZ 285/70/17's. The 6 inch kits look real good on the Tacoma, but its just not practical for me and my daily driver. I looked at the machined and the chrome 955's and I think the chrome will look better on my Speeedway Blue Taco. If you guys have any input would love to hear it. Man there are some sweet A$$ rides on this site, makes me even more proud to have a Tacoma. I don't miss the Tundra at all, especially with all the aftermarket goodies for the Taco. That's one thing I really didn't like about my Tundra is that you were so limited as to aftermarket options. Now just have to start ordering parts, LOL.

OK I understand the trimming with a 285/75/17 series tire, but will I still need to do it with a 285/70/17 series? If so i may just go with a 265/75/17 series tire.

Congrats man! Post pics sometime soon! :)

Yes, a 285/70/17 is theoretically the same size as the 285/75/16. It will require trimming.
