Something in the rear end clunks when I release brakes or on initial acceleration (one or the other, not both). Felt more than heard.

Transmission downshifts 2 gears after low speed cornering around town, or when going over speed bumps. Races engine, figures out it needs to upshift, does so abruptly. Can't be good for the tranny.

PS I also have the lunge forward problem after a full stop. I agree, it's probably the shift to first, increases the torque to the wheels at constant engine RPM. I've learned to leave room.... Wife doesn't like it.

My truck lunges as well. It's not cool. Has anyone tried to have this fixed? What did the dealer say to shut you down?

Has any had the problem of the light on the AC/heat control panel not working when headlights are on? It just the one on left side (behind the on/off/fan speed knob). I can tap the front and it will come on, but know it takes several minutes of tapping for it come on. Any ideas on the problem or a fix?? Thanks!!!

I was changing my oil last night and saw a problem. The drivers side outer CV boot is leaking grease. I could not find any visable cracks but I think the grease is coming from the edge of the metal band that holds it on. The band did not seem loose so I really don't know why it is leaking. My truck only has 10,025 miles on it. Calling the dealership this morning and setting up an appointment. I have not checked yet if there is a TSB for this problem.

I had the exact same problem twice on the same side. They replaced the boot clamp the first time around and in two weeks the metal band came loose again! I took it back in and they ordered the whole boot kit replacement package. They cleaned it up and installed it and I haven't had another problem out of it for many months. Strange that I had that happen since I never had much off-roading at all that could have caused a problem. I would think things should be alot tougher that that under a Taco and not have problems? Good luck.

By the way, that happened on my truck at around maybe 20,000. I got 31,500 now.

I drop off my truck tonight after work. Service manager said it's all under warranty and bring it in. Hopefully they will fix it right the first time.

They probably will it the first time. For some reason just changing the metal band that failed didn't do it the first time on mine. Maybe just a fluke. Service Manager said this doesn't happen often and I hope he was truthful.
I'll be out of warranty soon, so I had the suspension TSB done and a few minor things since I've had it. It's been a good truck. Only thing they couldn't fix is an annoying clutch pedal bushing squeak that gets worse the hotter the interior of my truck gets (I could take it in on a hot day and get it done, but its a pain setting it all up). I think I can fix that though. I also get an annoying A/C fan ticking or squeaking, but I pulled it out and found out what it was and fixed it for the most part.
The best thing I ever followed through on was getting that TSB for suspension replacement done. My truck handle way better although a bit stiffer ride and has better load capacity. I do recommend it though.

Just called the dealership and they said my truck was fixed. I asked what was wrong with the CV boot and they said it had a faulty band. They replaced it, hopefully it's fixed but time will tell.

Picked up truck Friday, the new band dislodged and was flopping on the boot when I looked at it Sunday morning. I dropped it back off at the dealership last night. My local dealership "never" fixes things right the first time.

Man, sorry to hear that happened to you too. They didn't fix mine right the first time either. Like I said earlier they just tried to put another band on the boot the first time. I don't know why that didn't work? Mine has been good since the boot kit replacement. Seems there are some faulty boot band suppliers out there causing the problems?

Just talked to the dealership, they've ordered a boot kit and it will be in tomorrow. Looks like my truck is getting fixed in the order same as yours. I had a feeling replacing the band wasn't going to fix the problem.

Another CV boot disaster update.....the mechanic didn't like the band that came with the boot kit, he ordered another different type. It came in and he installed it. He test drove it and it fell off. They ordered a brand new half shaft for it and it should be in and installed today. I dropped my truck off Sunday night and today is Thursday and hopefully I will get it back today. What a fiasco over one band! For my inconvience, they put a exhaust tip on for me that I asked for. I should had asked for the TRD skid plate instead.

    6) After longer highway trips (1hour plus) the clutch chatters sometimes when idling. I push in the clutch pedal and it goes away. I've heard the 2009's are having problems with the clutches and i'm getting kind of nervous about it. I'm gunna have the dealer take a look at it when it goes in for its first oil change in 2weeks... they probably won't find anything wrong:frusty:

can't say i've had the windshield or bed noise though... weird

About #6. Try this.. Turn your AC off and the clatter disappears. I have no idea how it is related. When the AC is on and with the clutch is out you will hear clatter. Push the clutch in and the noise goes away. Turn the AC off and that noise goes away completely. Weird huh

hmm, i cant see how the a/c compressor would effect the clutch that way... sounds more like a pilot bearing... but it doesnt do it all the time

    6) My issues are minor but annoying. 1. When dome light set to door the light frequently doesn't work unless I force the switch further towards "Door" (necessary almost every time I get in vehicle). 2. Overhead Temp Gauge/Compass recently stopped working. 3. Rattle sound coming from rear driver side when turning left. 4. Tire Pressure Warning Light always on.

you can fix the temperature guage with a quick and easy solder fix, there will be a couple solder connections that have cracked from the bumps over time, I took mine off, took it inside, soldered it, and put it back in all in less than 20 minutes and it now works :)
