has to be. I refuse to accept defeat.

my 08' has been beaten and never vibrates. heck the alignment is fubar right now with a motor getting ready to explode, 33" MT's, and still no vibes going fast on the highway :D

Gotta throw the question back at you .
What are or have you tried to get rid of the vibration ?
Here are some things to work at to narrow the issue down .
Vibrations usually get all mixed into the same pot and a lot of posters try and fix their vibes using what others have done without properly diagnosing their own issue .This causes additional frustration and all kind of cash $$$$$$$$
Take some time and try and narrow it down because the dealer is not going to help you .
Dealers may try and fix the vibration but from what most people have said , nothing the dealer does fixes the vibes and shudders .
Are you effected by the TSB ? http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd...n-tsb-out.html

Have you greased your driveline ?http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tec...rks-total.html
Do you know how to grease your driveline properly http://aftermarket.federalmogul.com/...%20FAQ%27s.pdf
Does the truck vibrate in park or neutral and does the vibration change with accelarator pedal ?
Does the truck vibrate while holding the brakes and hitting the gas - Automatic ?
Does the truck vibrate in neutral at a stand still ?or coasting in neutral ?
Does the truck vibrate in 4x4 ?
Does the truck only vibrate in 2 wheel drive ?
Does the truck vibrate with the serpentine belt removed ?
Does the truck vibrate cold or hot ?
Does the truck vibrate if you select nuetral and coast to a slow roll without using the brakes ?
Does the truck vibrate as you are braking ?
Does the truck vibrate with weight in the truck or empty ?
Does the truck vibrate while upshifting ? Have you checked your trans fluid ?
Does the truck vibrate while downshifting ? Have you checked your trans fluid ?
When was your last transmission fluid service ?
Now that you have a lift kit installed the truck vibrates . Did you cancel your drive line angles ?
Have you looked at the condition of your tires ? Toyota says to rotate every 5000 miles .Tacoma tires must be road forced balanced using the Haweka adapter on the tire machine
When was the last time you rotated your tires ?
Have the balance weights fallen off the tires ?
The proper and only way to test for bad universal joints is with the driveshaft removed . You cant tell if the universal joints are seized or tight spots with the driveshaft on the truck . You may see play in the universal joints , but you wont be able to properly check the u-joints without removing the driveshaft .All it takes to create a vibration is one seized universal cup and there are 4 cups within each joint .
With this said , you cant tell if that cup is seized with the driveshaft connected .
Removing the driveshaft and manipulate each universal joint by hand from side to side feeling for tight spots as you go
If you beleive its bad motor mounts or transmission mounts , grab a big pry bar and pry at the mounts to see if the rubber is torn or weak .

What ticks me off no end is the 1st Gen Tundra has the same two-piece drive shaft with the carrier bearing in the middle, same U-joints, but it doesn't have the extreme angles like the 2nd Gen Tacoma. And many people have said this is the source of the problem. No shudder, no vibe on the 1st Gen Tundra. They have the same drivelines from transmission to the rear diff, same auto trans, and I bet it's the same rear diff, but Toyota can't fix the dang problem by modifying the 2nd Gen Tacoma to the engineering specs of the 1st Gen Tundra.

Maybe it's the composite bed doesn't provide a stable enough platform for the carrier bearing, I don't know. There's really no engineering reason to have those extreme angles from transmission to carrier bearing, then to the rear diff. The ground clearance doesn't matter, it's already limited to the ground clearance provided by the front crossmember. It's not necessary to have the carrier bearing six inches above minimum ground clearance.

OP in short I have had your issues since day 1 as well. Go to your dealer and demand that tsb 0008-14 is done to your truck. It solved 95% of my issues and I seem satisfied with the results for now. Believe me 19 days in the shop 5 brake jobs later on my 13.

I purchased my Certified 09 a little over a year ago with 44,000 miles on it. I've been complaining for a year now about the vibes and got nowhere. I am now at 59,000 miles. I have 5100's all around set a zero w/ eibachs for a 1.6" front lift. HD General springs in the rear for a 1.5" lift. LR UCA's & 265/75/16 Goodyears.
Finally called corporate two days ago on Thursday about the vibes. They said they will have the dealer will call me. Dealer called me today ( Saturday ) so I met with them and discussed the problem and my unhappiness with the truck and reminded them this is the third vehicle I've bought from them in last 8 years. Camry, Tacoma and a Rav 4 .
The dealer set up a July 8 date to start replacing the entire driveshaft assembly, carrier bearing, trans mounts and engine mounts. They said if that doesn't help, they will probably replace the entire rear end. all on their dime.
I am more than happy to say the least. I will post back and let you know what happens after all this work is done. If this doesn't help I think I'll be trading it in.
Vibes are driving me nuts !!!

    Some stuff...
My '13 never had any issues till I lifted it. Now I have very slight axle wrap from 10-15mph, but it's hardly noticeable and definitely livable. Will probably go with a one-piece drive-shaft or traction bar.
