    What? It's a legitimate question.

Quit spamming the man's thread and post some fucking relevant information instead.

I know I'd love a diesel in my truck. Has anyone put a Hilux Diesel in their Tacoma?
    I fucking crack myself up...

I think id be to much of a hassle. I looked into getting a 4bt into my dakota, and after motor, new lines, and all the bs computer stuff, your looking at too much of a hassle. If you do it Id like to follow along your build thread.

I can take shit fine, thanks. I just had a simple question.

And I did use the search feature. It works good, but when I don't find a lot of descent information, I make a thread to ask something instead.

I may be considering doing this, and I may not be. If I did, I would do it with a first gen. I asked about the second gen simply because I was wondering.

If you don't have any information that will come of use to me, please waste your time elsewhere. Thanks.

Did you pick the 4bt for any specific reason? Or just the best fit?

It's a beast :D but the weight, and all the other hassle that comes with the swap is just crazy. And the money adds up fast  I also wanted to keep it dodge.

Why do you want a diesel anyway?

I like the power and torque diesel offers. Anyone can trade in their tacoma for a duramax or cummins. But how many turbo diesel tacomas do you see driving around? Have someone walk by thinkin its a regular old tacoma, then start her up.

I just dont think you can justify the cost  how much is your tacoma worth? I'm in no way trying to be a dick, but after the cost of the diesel motor, all the lines, electric, not to mention labor... its gunna add up qiuick. Are you gunna be doin all the labor? Im just giving you something to think about. Maybe if you could find a vw turbo diesel motor for cheap... and do all the work yourself it wouldnt be that bad on the wallet.

Yeah the work would be all done myself. (with help from others of course.) I have been planning on getting an older yota that is in good shape. And making a build out of that. As cool as a second gen diesel would be, the cost would be ridiculous, plus it would have too many problems. Its my daily driver. If I had a second yota, as a project truck, then i can work on it all i want. If that turns out well then i might consider it with a second gen, just to be the first one to do it.

I have friends in the industry who can find me a good engine and get me a good deal. Same as with an old truck in good shape.

Ok so I'm not an expert, but if you was going to do a deisel swap then try looking into the cummins 4BT. its a very popular engine. it was used in tons of work truck/vans. it is also cheap do to the fact that its readily available. When built right can make around 300 hp and 600-650 ft lb. wich in a tacoma would be SWEEEETTT. search 4bt swap on youtube, it has been done, and seems to work well. Just keep in mind that even tho its a 4 cyl deisel it is still very heavy. like a big block. i searched them on e-bay and found a few for around 3k Good luck
