I guess I hit something which bent a piece of metal that destroyed the plastic boot to the drive shaft connected to the rear diff. Has anyone replaced this before?

I emailed northern drivetrain and they probably wont get back to me until next week. My initial research is that we use dana spicer parts and that boot is part number 10022044. I need the boot kit and the grease.

My other options is pay the dealership but I will save that option for last.

    Any help is appreciated

I wondered how strong those were :( Are you sure that’s the right part number? It’s not listed where I usually look online, and Dana website lists it as obsolete:

Yeah thats what on the boot and it matches when I use the Dana Spicer website http://www2.dana.com/expertforms/departid.aspx
It's weird because that is prob the part number for Dana Spicer and it shows obsolete when you put that number in on that website. I was told by my toyota dealership they can't order the boot separate and we have to replace that whole drive shaft.

The boot kits looks a lot like this http://www.northerndrivetrain.com/product/SPI-212146X.html but who knows I can't go based on looks.

If Toyota says replace the whole thing, try using that boot you listed- they wouldn’t cover it anyway without you paying for a whole new shaft. They are giving you a shaft IMHO.

Try a local transmission shop, thay may have a good aftermarket one for it too.

This sounds hokey, but try wrapping that thing with a bunch of gorilla tape, it will hold grease in it long enough for you to drive your truck to a local shop.

Looks like someone posted before I did. There’s quite a few of us with this problem.
