I got these crappy emblem overlays off Amazon and they came without half the 3M so I bought some emblem glue to put them on... BIG MISTAKE. The glue oozed out on the T while it was drying and now I can’t get it off. I’ve contemplated just debadging it all together, but 1.) I don’t want to ruin the paint and 2.) I wanted to check if I’m missing a solution.

Take a sharpie to it. Nobody in the world is going to notice that but you.

Not sure how old your truck is but I debadged after about 6 months and no issues. Just used fishing line to go behind the badges, then some soap/water to get all of the adhesive off. Also, like the previous poster said, take a Sharpie to it.

Emblem glue is bad, you'll see a lot of complaints online about it ruining paint or not working. The easiest thing to do is either paint or plasti-dip your current emblems if you want to save money. The other option is to just buy new blacked out emblems on ebay, just verify the size is correct before ordering. Just remove the OEM emblems, stick the new ones on, better than overlays.
Removing the emblems is easy, just heat them up with a heat gun or hair dryer and floss them off with dental floss. Clean up any remaining residue with goo gone and all good to go.

I realize this doesn't help the OP, but for others considering this, I just masked and painted my emblems in place. Took like 10 min each one:

What kind of spray paint/process? Did you sand it down before painting the letters? Did you use primer before painting?

Wow, would you have painted the emblems on the truck if you didn’t have a black truck?
    No overspray on the paint?

No overspray. I used a lot of newspaper after I put on the masking tape. But I took that off before taking the photos.

I did the plastic crap and it looked great until little fuzzy crap and lint sticks to it after you wash it. I didn't like the texture and just knew it was going to chip off somehow. I'm a little anal about things but overlays looks a whole lot better. I ordered the Amazon ones and they sucked, didn't cover all the chrome very well, so I returned them and carried my ass to the dealership and paid $100 bucks for the kit and got the Tacoma 3d letters as well.

It’s driving me up the wall. Might de badge it tomorrow. I’m just afraid that the 3M will stick too hard on the paint.
