Keep pressing them on the issue. Tell them it may not do it on a test drive (because it's difficult to replicate the issue on demand), but that doesn't mean you don't experience the issue frequently. If you tell them it has the issue, that should be enough imo.

Or try a different service department.

AD2D49D5-4622-4BB7-86A4-D49746C96FDB.jpg I just got back from Beaman Toyota in Nashville trying to get TSB 0058-18 or 0062-18 done. They said that the master tech could not duplicate. How come everyone that rides in my truck asks what’s wrong with it, but the so called master tech couldn’t! They said use premium fuel and use ECT! What a joke these guys are! Any Nashville guys in here know who will do this? It’s really sad that I used to work there as a heavy engine repair guy! They also changed the wording on my original complaint, it used to read, stumble and hesitation from 40 to 50 mph! They stripped that part out of the document!

There is, but this TSB only applies to the auto trucks with the V6. I was trying to keep my answer as straightforward as possible in my reply since I wasn't sure which stumble condition the poster was referring to.

I would be immediately calling corporate and asking them why your dealer told you that you needed to use premium fuel for a vehicle that is suppossed to run on regular. I can't believe they put that in writing lol.

Anyone in the Bay Area, City Toyota took care of me today. Said I had a TSB I wanted applied, service rep asked me if it was for the hunting gears. I said yes and also the stumble. I threw in some BS about it being way worse at altitude that way they couldn’t just drive it around the block and say it’s fine. A couple hours later they said they did the flash. No pushback, and the reason for the wait was this place was slammed. I got the sticker under the hood and paperwork to say it was applied. Now to drive it for a while to form my opinion of the change.

Telling you is one thing, putting it in writing is a whole 'nother.

It took me 2 trips to my dealership to get mine done. First trip I just told them what was on the tsb almost verbatim..."stumbles on wide open throttle takeoff at higher altitudes". I also told them there was a TSB addresssing this exact issue... The kept the truck all day, told me at least 3 different techs drove it, including their master tech and they all agreed something was off but they couldn't fix anything. They "flashed my ecu" but said I was already on the most current version. They also spent hours looking for fuel injection and timing issues but came up with nothing...I went back with a printed copy of the TSB and a screen shot from my OBD reader that showed my current calibration ID and they 'managed to find a fix' for me lol. If I ever need real troubleshooting I'll definitely be going to another dealer. I was tempted to raise hell after they admitted to letting at least 3 different dudes go do WOT takeoffs all day in my truck the first time but whatever. I'm just happy it's fixed. I love the update btw. Took my Sprint booster and shift sense pro off when I brought it in just so they couldn't try to blame them or deny me warranty work in the future. I haven't reinstalled them since and I think I'm just going to sell them off.

I read a post on here that said they thought the new update from toyota was better than the OV update. Can anyone comment?

It was on par with what OV produced. Keep in mind that OV delivered without having any insider info on how the ECU operated.

The upcoming version 1.05 of OV will be light years beyond what Toyota has done.

I brought my truck in for the update 62-18, told them the shifting was all over the place and had all the issues everyone's been complaining about.....they said they had it under control, gave me a new program... turns out they downloaded 77-16.
didn't notice much in the way of improvement with it shifting but it did get rid of the decel burble it had around 25 mph.

New guy here. Picked up my '18 TRD OR two weeks ago. 900 miles now. Great except for the trans issues. Today had update done with no hassles and its fine in drive now. I live off of a hilly backroad and it would drive me nuts, used ECT mode as a temporary fix. I've had two older pre Tacoma (from Japan) Toyota trucks and recently back to back Tundras, each sold running great with over 230K miles. The Tundra shifts similar, with economy in mind, but the 5.7 can pull the short shifts a lot better than the 3.5 and you don't notice any issues. Anyway the Taco fits my current needs better and is a much better daily driver. All I need is a dirt bike hauler/commuter and its perfect for that. No big mods planned, but will weld up a bed rack for kayaks, skis, and mountain bikes.

Curious to know your thoughts regarding mpg with Tundra vs Tacoma at interstate speeds. PM me if you like.

Had this done friday. My truck up shifted from fourth, to fifth gear, and then sixth all while climbing a small hill on the way home. I couldn't believe it! Also had them turn off the seatbelt chime for when I'm not on the road yet need to move the truck around and dont fasten the seat belt. So has anyone who's had this update for a while think that the truck relearns and goes back to it's old ways? I'm really liking how it drives now.
