So had a problem with the VSC and ABS system tripping and going into fail safe mode. So went to the dealership and they said that when i did my fog light mod that the green wire we use to do this mod is the problem and is burning up my ABS module. So i am still digging through all the wiring diagrams to figure this all out. But just to give everyone else a heads up. I have never heard of anyone having problems with this until now. Also if anyone has wiring diagrams please send me the link. Thanks..

I would undue the fog light mod and see if problem occurs again. I did the fog light mod with the relay in the engine compartment, and the add a fuse. Have seen them turn on occasionally for like 2 minutes in the middle of the night.

yeah i pulled everything out and soddered it all back correctly so we will see what happens over the next few days. If it still messes up i will be back to the dealership for them to give me my money back for labor and to troubleshoot more.

So after dealing with the dealership and pulling everything off and putting it back to normal, i go out to my truck today and start it up and sure enough the problem still exists. So back to the dealer in the morning to see what they have to say. I still find it hard to believe that the wire goes to the slip and ABS system. So we will see what they say this time.

haha yeah we will see what they say tomorrow. I really doubt that the FLM would cause this but the master tech told me it would not happen if i took it all off... and i did and hey look at that its doing it again.

I doubt they will say anything. I really doubt the FLM killed the radiator.

i would hope your fog lights dont kill your radiator... I think u would have bigger problems than your alternater at that point...

Well the truck is back at the dealer. They said they are opening a tech case about it and having the engineers at toyota tell them what to replace so i should hear something tomorrow. So far i have been back and forth to the dealer for the past week. So who knows now.

You may have connected to the wrong wire. There is another way of doing it in which the lights wont turn on randomly.

Are you speaking of the way PiercedTiger wrote up in the Cheap Mods thread?

I am so damn confused as to which way works and does not cause the lights to come on after a few hours.

I want the mod but I want to do it the correct way. I'm not just looking for the easiest way.

I think he has 2 ways listed....One of them (the last one?) is the correct one.

I'm sorry Rmb. I wish I knew how to help. My truck doesn't have all that electronic stuff so I didn't have any such problems.

Like someone else said is it possible that you accidentially plugged something in wrong, or the 09's something's is different.

I did the one where you splice into the green wire in the fuse box under the hood and than go to the relay. I dont think it was anything from that bc it was having the problems before i even started messing with all my mods. Hopefully i will hear from the dealer today with what part had failed.

That sounds like the one I did. The dealership said nothing about mine when they replaced my alternator. I actually had the fogs spliced into the green wire and then when I got my PIAA's, I added the wire for the power switch into that splice as well. They un-slpiced the PIAA switch wire when they fixed it but re-spliced the FLM so I doubt that would be the issue. I'm sure they would have said something about it.

yeah thats a good point. Plus i dont know how much was changed in the wiring for the 09's. it looks like that green wire just comes straight up from the alternator and than to who knows where.....
