I've made the mod to my 2014 - it had the seat warmer relay pins, so a simple jumper job in the backside relay box. Works well and can't be seen. Only works when the ignition switch is on. Added (2) H9 bulbs to the fogs and these were quick and worthwhile upgrades.

But - it still has the "problem" of not being obvious that the fogs are ON. Not a problem at night so much as during the day - the factory switch doesn't move much between the two positions. Any ideas about how to rig a lamp or LED? The adjacent switch position on my truck is a blank.

Just modified my 2014 that had no prewired blank relays. Cut and Tap, shrink wrap on unused feed. Nice & clean, all fits under the cover. Literally 5 min mod after popping all the covers and verifying all circuitry with a multimeter. Thanks to all who contributed above making this a breeze to figure out!!

I have a '13 SR5, here's my relay box. I only have the fog relay (on right in pic) and the air pump heater relay (middle). No extra wires.

If I understand correctly, I can just tap into the blue and white striped wire (below the white on the air pump relay) and run that to the red and black striped wire (top right), and cap off the red and black where I cut it coming out of the harness.

    Is that correct?

That might work but you should verify that the blue/white stripe wire has +12v all the time when the ignition is on.

You also might want to use some sort of quick disconnect terminal like insulated spade terminals, that way you can reconnect the original wire back up just in case you get an overzealous state inspector who says your fogs can't legally be on independently. Have fun. :)

BTW: If you still have a Radio Shack in your area they sell "T taps" that work with spade connectors. This allows you to clamp the T tap onto a wire and then just plug a spade terminal into it.

I did as I described above and everything is working perfectly.

I also installed my Christmas present to myself, XB LED Fogs from The Retrofit Source!!

Pics are coming. Thanks to the OP and everyone who contributed to this thread.

Having trouble detaching the fog light box from the larger box so I can flip it over. Can anyone tell me (or show on a pic) where I need to press with a screwdriver to get it loose?

Hmm I'll try again tomorrow but it seems to be on there tight enough that I felt like I'm going to break something if I tug any harder.

Hey, I have a 2014 TRD 4x4 Tacoma crew cab and for the life of me I can't get the relay box off to try this mod. When I first got the truck I was surprised to find that the fog lights weren't independent as that is sometimes how you have to drive (fog lights only) in white out conditions. Ideas? It does not just pull straight up and off on my unit.
    Thanks

Jerked it up hard and it worked.

I too have a 2014. Can't get that damned relay box off. Ideas. Tried "straight up" a number of times and no luck.
    Thanks.

OK, I have a 2013 Double cab base SR5. I have the small relay box and should be able to do the mod shown by mphoppe above. I also took a look at the mod for the 2010, referenced by oOoSHADOWoOo. I have to say, that my fuse box looks identical to the picture for the 2010. So, if I need to do the first mod for my 2013, what is the relay for in my fuse box. It's a fog light relay in the 2010 fuse box, but what is that location used for in the 2013?

Also, does anyone have a diagram for the 2010 and or the 2013 that shows what each fuse and relay is for in both the large fuse box and small relay box?
