I have spent the past week Googling and reading all of the "front camera" threads I could find here on TW, but cannot find what I'm looking for. I have the camera and video switcher listed below, but neither came with directions that I can understand.

I have a 2017 4x4 Sport, with non-JBL HU, with Navigation. It is my understanding that there is no RCA video port on the back of the HU, so I don't understand how I can use either of these items. What am I missing here?

I'd say when pulling into a tight parking space when there's a moron parked across the line in front of you (which would leave you hanging out in the back). Could also be used to keep an eye on your winch or tow rope and such.

I'd be more interested in trying to record the video (from both) in case of an accident.

Huh...I've never needed a camera to know if the front of my vehicle will hit something. Drives my wife nuts because she thinks I'm too close a lot.

The RCA plugs are just two wires - ground (outer) and signal (inner). As long as you are splicing the right wire to the right inputs, etc. it is just a video signal.

You get used to seeing your line and knowing what to do while your nose is up. But sometimes if your nose is that much up the front camera wouldn't help much. In that case you need a spotter :)

    Then how about this:
    https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/

He did majority of the wiring work for you, you just need to install the camera and kit he provides.

My rough draft drawing per your parts. (Not included switch for a,b selection and Line 2 (Reverse signal) control to toggle to Video screen at anytime).

    upload_2017-3-8_13-55-16.jpg

IMHO: Do not use E-Video Switcher, you can either connect per:
    1. This link
    2. Or use Mechanical A/V switch box to replace your E-Video Switcher

Keep in mind that the whole idea is:
    1. Switch line 12 of 24 pin connector between Front and Rear Camera. Allow user to toggle between Rear Video or Front Video.
    2. Apply 12 vdc to Pin 2 of 28 pin connector when you are not in Reverse gear to toggle video screen ON (so you can see Front or Rear Video at anytime). Required to cutoff line 2 and install switch (read and understand before you do it).

@Hoangde man I sure appreciate your help! So if I understand the diagram above correctly, I won't need to use a relay or diodes....correct? Also, in reference to above diagram, I'm not understanding the yellow rear camera plug and the other yellow plug. How do these physically connect to the 24 pin connector? Do I just jab the stripped wires into the appropriate hole? Why the red X on the picture?

This is my way, you may find a different way to do it. Welcome to understand and do the way you like:

    1. Locate wire on pin 12 and wire on pin 24 of 24 pin connector.
    2. Cut both wires in the middle. (Red X).
    3. Now you have wire on pin 12 and wire on pin 24 at Head Unit side (the wires still attached to plastic connector). Let's call these side "AB" for now.
    4. The other end of wire on pin 12 and wire on pin 24 (the wires still attached to bundle wires). Let's call these side "CD" for now.
    5. Now connect wires (Wire 12&24) from "AB" side and wires (Wire 12&24) from "CD" side as figure 1 below
    6. Get a RCA Female connector and connect as in black circle.
    7. You just completed Front/Rear Camera Selector
    8. Connect 12 vdc to Front Camera
    9. Connect Video cable from Front Camera to RCA Female Connector (step 6).
    upload_2017-3-8_23-7-17.jpg

Next locate wire on Pin 2 of 28 Pin connector.
    1. Cut wire on Pin 2 in the middle length.
    2. Now you have wire on pin 2 at Head Unit side (the wires still attached to plastic connector). Let's call this side "E" for now.
    3. The other end of wire on pin 2 (the wires still attached to bundle wires). Let's call this side "F" for now.
    4. Connect wire on E side and wire on F side as figure below.
    5. Located +12 vdc and connect to switch as below.
    6. You just completed Anytime Camera switch
    upload_2017-3-8_23-8-15.jpg

Congratulation. You just DIY “Anytime Front/Rear Camera Mod”.

If you understand to this point, you can substitute the two toggle switches above with OEM style as you wished.
    _______________________________________________________________

For better power control and keep Front Camera off when not in uses then connect per my diagram (with relay) in here

Just to be sure, is this an "on-off-on" DPDT or "on-on-on"?

UPDATE: The correct switch is a DPDT two position On/On switch. A DPDT on-off-on will also work.
