front/read differential and transfer case fluid change

I have a 2015 2.7 AC base truck with about 36K miles. I saw on various posts that people are changing their different fluids at around 30K miles saying it is "recommended." Going through my maintenance schedule for the 2.7 liter engine, there is no mention of having to change the differential and transfer case fluids. It says that if you tow, have a car topper, or of drive with a heavily loaded vehicle, I should change the aforementioned fluids. I just use my truck as my daily driver. No heavy usage.

I plan on changing the fluids at around 60K miles just for peace of mind. Do you guys think there will be any issues?

60K is fine. I did mine at 30K. F&R diff, transfer case and I plan on flushing my trans soon. All depends on what type oil you plan to use, personally I use synthetic in everything.

 

I would change at 30k and check drain plug for metal shards. Its not hard to do.

 

Another vote for 50-60k if it's just your daily driver and you're not beating it. I did the 30k interval thing a couple times and the fluids looked clean, could've waited another 20k easily...

There's great DIY info on here and you can save a ton of cash doing it yourself. It can be a little messy and stinky but it's easy to do...I enjoy it

 

What size is the socket I need for the drain plugs?

 

I know the front diff is a 10mm Allen socket. Pretty sure. Just make sure the fill plugs are removed first.

 

I can't seem to find the size for the rear diff.

 

I think it's a 24mm. Let me check
