    Hello all,
    I don’t have homelink and I have tried searching TW for a thread about a garage door opener with a factory look/button for a 3 Gen, but have been unsuccessful. Do you guys know anyone who have wired a setup like this or sell a kit.

    I did mine very simply. I bought a "Garage Opener" small Toyota switch from CH4x4 ($19). It comes with a harness and wiring diagram. I then took the "switch" leads coming off of the harness (2 of the wires) and soldered them to the contact pad leads (+/-) on the circuit board of my opener. Wrapped the board up and tucked it in somewhere behind the radio. Install the switch: just partially remove the radio and then reach down into the area where the switch panel is, pop out the blank, pop in the new switch and connect the harness. I have not tapped into a "switched 12V wire" for the switch light yet, plan on doing that soon. Word of caution: when you order the switch, make sure you get the momentary version. I forgot to ask and they sent me the on/off type. Not a huge problem, but I have to press and depress the button whenever I want to used it instead of just being able to tap it.

    As part of my negotiations with the dealer, I asked for a mirror with door opener option. which they installed at no cost to me to make the deal work. They said it was a $100 add on but I have not verified that. It's not the same as the one I had on my 2012 but it opens my garage door, has a compass and it's a clean install which is all I was looking for. I guess they sell these as accessories at the dealership.

    I hard wired my remote into the dash and added a switch. 15C59336-E153-48CD-A071-59BFBF981522.jpg

    Edit: my remote runs off a 12 volt battery so it was easy to hard wire it off the fuse box under the dash, if your remote takes any other voltage you will have to stay with the battery or add a voltage converter. The switch is from Air On Board and I just took the remote apart to solder the power wires and switch wires to the remote circuits. I didn’t take pictures of the process however. One thing I noticed after installing the remote was the range almost tripled! Hope that helps.
