Go to this thread, the first post

I bought a 2015 MT in October and the shifting was atrocious

I changed the oil to Redline MT-90 GL4, it helped and is getting better every day, especially after about 1000km it was a lot smoother and and downshifting is a lot easier

The clutch is one of the worst to use and I had to to a lot of work to get it better

I adjusted the clutch pedal down to line up with the brake and accelerator pedals, you have to take the lower dash off to get to the bolt to adjust it

I also adjusted the master cylinder under the pedal

These two made it a lot better

Next was the accumulator, I took it off and milled a groove between the two holes and put in back

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mt-accumulator-delete-mod-adm-and-bs-thread.568303/

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...dm-and-bs-thread.568303/page-90#post-24046885

The clutch was feeling more direct like a normal clutch with repeatable release

Last week I changed the shifter out to a a TRD Quickshifter and it made a lot of difference, the shift between 1 and 2 decreased from 4.7" to 2.6"

I saw it you should watch his oil shootout where he tested all the best oils against each other.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum was second, I used it in my previous Tacoma, a 2008 V6 DC Auto 6FT bed. It ran great even with cold startups with 278,000 km on the clock.

Pennzoil claims it cleans out you engine, so I did the first oil change to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, the oil was clear and hard to see on the dipstick, however I was surprised when the dipstick looked like this after only 1000km, so there might be some truth in it

For MT gear oil I still recommend Redline MT-90

Yeah I watch that one also. I watch most of his and Timmy the Toolman’s videos.

I went with Amsoil last change and I can’t tell any difference while driving but I’ll see next time I change it what it looks like.

*Should have said Amsoil in the Diffs and crank case not motor.

With Ultra Platinum I heard the difference on cold mornings when the valve noise went away sooner, and it removes the varnish from the inside

Gear oil is simply gear oil and I’ve personally never seen the need for fancy diff fluid in a midsize truck. An HD truck towing and hauling regularly? Absolutely. But not on a small truck that’s limited by so much. Amsoil and Redline is great, but a bit overkill in the diffs. In a manual trans, MT-90 tops the Amsoil trans fluid every day of the week. Over half a million miles between my 3 MT Tacomas, all have had better results with MT-90. Supertech and Delo gear oil for the diffs also haven’t let me down.

I was referring to Redline gear oil for the manual transmission, for the diff I use ordinary Pennzoil Dino

Understood. My comment was more so in reference to a lot of fluid fanboys who swear by amsoil in everything. With these trucks, regular maintenance with specced fluids is all that matters and your truck won’t notice the difference. Actually goes for most Toyota’s I’ve owned.

Hmmm.....based on that information from the vid it appears I should shift from Quaker Full Syn to Pennzoil Full Syn. Next change.

I never was a fan of Mobil1 or the "designer" oils.

I actually just bought the walmart Supertech High Mileage Full Synthetic. We'll see if there's a difference. If not, I'll try the Pennzoil and see. This past spring I changed out the valve cover gaskets and had slight varnishing on the inside of the covers but not bad for a 20 year old truck.
