Finished the stand for it. Hope it works haha

Didn't want to mount it to the floor so I screwed a couple 3/4" pieces of scrap plywood together and bolted the stand to it. I welded a 'T' with 2.5"OD .25" wall square tubing on top that the bender bolts to and access the nuts with a wrench. And 2"OD .25" wall as the shaft that fits snug in the base. I may just make additional mounts like this that fit in the same base for the vise, saw, etc.

Would this be an option as a substitute to the hydro?

That way looks amazingly simple. Almost simpler then hydroing I would think..

That screw drive looks interesting for sure, but I would go with the hydro personally. You dont have to have a compressor and go air/hydro, just use a hydraulic cylinder and pump the jack like any other bottle jack. It will still be easier.

Personally, I dont think that base is gonna work unless its bolted down. The amount of force you need to put into bending that tube is esentially the overturning moment that the base needs to resist. Now it you go hydro, the overturning moment is just due to the length and weight of the overhanging pipe, etc. since the force of the ram is between two points on the bender.

That camper jack is a great idea for the money and for light use.

I'd also think your plywood base will start to tear when you bend something by hand.

I'm resigned to mounting it to the floor if that's the case. :D Should the rest of it be okay though?

Should work-I might make a larger plate for the bender. Just remember that in manual mode, the rotational force on the stand will be greater than with a mechanized mode.

The boards seem to hold up fine, just needs to be at least 4'x4' haha
I'll definitely bolt it to the floor.

    Little confused by this...

The Hobart 210mvp is 50 amps right? why does the plug say 20A?

Hard to tell from that picture, but that is probably a NEMA 5-50P right (plugs into a 240V 50A receptacle). But is probably only rated for 20A because the welder only draws a max of 24A on 240V

A little late but that should plug into the 220v cord on the machine and let you run 115V in a typically wall outlet. I believe you can only use half of the voltage on the machine when using 115v or you will fry the board. This lowers the weld output amps lowering the total max draw of the machine to under the 20A range.

You might check out some of the auction sites.

If you just need something cheap, Harbor Freight does sell them.

I was thinking 5-6 ft and 1/8 inch. Not too sure. Ill be making some brakets and stuff but wanted something fairly long term and diverse. Largest and thickes bending before I get into the thousands maybe.
