Hi all, If you have a second could you double check my wiring plan for the seat heaters I am adding? I am new to electrical work so would like a second set of eyes on how I am wiring this. Fires are bad, mmkay.

Here is the setup I am using: [IMG]

My plan is to wire 10 gauge (each Seat heater draws about 5 amps= 10 amps total)

directly from the battery--->inline 30 amp fuse ----> through firewall ---> splitter to main power wire for heater harness ---> each line has inline 15 amp fuse.

The harness has built in relays. I will wire (red-yellow striped wire)to an ignition on only fuse using a tap a fuse.

There is a "night light wire" (yellow). Everyone says to tap to a green lighting wire. Not sure what to do with this exactly.

So the questions I have if anyone can answer are as follows:

1: Is 10 gauge OK for the power line from the battery?

2: Is there a good spot to tap for the night light wire (supposed to come on with dash lights) near the driver side fuse box? My wires terminate there and it would be a pita to change that given how this harness is packaged. A picture would be worth a thousand words....

3: can you safely put both relay wires on one add a fuse given they should be pretty low draw?

Any commentary on the rest of the plan would be appreciated, Here is a (poorly) drawn schematic of my plans:

Maybe study simple DC circuits and relay operation .

    Answered my own questions fortunately.

    1. 10 Gauge wire is plenty of overkill for 10 amps going about 7-8feet

    2. I just used an add-a-fuse to tap tail lights since all my wiring ended at the fuse box. This works like a charm with the backlight coming on when I turn my lights on.

    3. Plenty of room so I just add-a-fused two ign on spots to spread the load.

Everything works like it should with relay doing its job. Will post nicer write up with pictures when I upload them.
