Want to disable my day time running lights so my turn signal covers don’t crack like they always do. How would I do that?

Under the dash or under the hood?

    There is no DRL fuse.

There's different ways to do it depending on whether or not you want to run LED turnsignals.

I just don’t want to have the usual Tacoma turnsignal burn in the headlight

You don't need to use LEDs with an aftermarket flasher... it just won't do the fast flash if you do.

$8 jumper block and a $12 parts store flasher (it'll be the cheaper of the 2 options that come up if they look up your truck) will eliminate DRLs entirely. And you can try to sell your DRL flasher/module and Y harness to someone here who wants DRLs.

I disabled my 2008 Tundra DRL by replacing the headlight control module. Some Tundras came with DRL others didn't, it just depends on the control module. I'm not sure if the Tacoma is the same way for early 2nd Gens.

True. My point was if you're not going to run LEDs, there's no point in spending $20 and a trip to the dealer, when you can accomplish the same thing by just cutting 1 wire. Personally, I like the very bright lighting that my LEDs provide, knowing that people can clearly see my intentions, and also the extra features of the Smarttap flasher.

I'd prefer not to cut wires (when I can avoid it at least) and you can sell what you take out for at least double what you put in. The DRL control module and harness ain't cheap.

On my 08 I bought a little control module that goes under the dash, direct OEM replacement for the old one. Except I wanted the DRL's. I'll look in my garage tomorrow, if I can find the non-DRL module I'll send it your way

I found it. Surprised I kept it. If you PM me we can get it sent to you. I have no use for it. I'd upload a picture but I really can't figure out how :(

Edit: Part Number 81980-02030 if you'd like to look around
