I just picked up a '17 Tacoma and noticed the little bed storage boxes on the sides have small openings on the bottom that open into the underside of the truck. Has anyone sealed this up?

If you seal the drain holes you should probably also seal the doors.

I've been working on something to do this currently. I'm designing some covers that will help prevent water spray from getting in either the small holes in the back and the slots up front.

I took off the doors and taped up the holes. there's some other holes in the bed I think i found most of them.
I wasn't worried about draining water since I have an A.R.E. shell. and a storage system so I wasn't gonna be opening and closing those compartments anyway.

These are what I have but, the holes/slots in the box still need to be covered. Hopefully I'll be able to give a nice cheap option for the extras soon.

In the meantime, I just used silicone caulk.

Looking forward in what you come up with, that should be a more elegant solution.

That will definitely do the trick for now; did you only use that on the small holes and not the slots?

I'm not sure if elegant will be the right word but, maybe cleaner

this has been a concern of mine also. I'll take some measurements tonight. Maybe I can come up with some 3d printed parts in ABS that can be glued in place to seal the holes. Essentially make little pockets for the tabs to drop into and lock in, rather than openings.

Haha I'm a step ahead of you, just need a revision or 2 to get the angles right and they'll be done. There are some funky angles to work with under there.

Flex seal some metal screan wire.
Shape the metal screan to fit then cover it with Flex seal or good spray on under coat let dry.
Spray Flex seal on to area to be covered and use it like glue.
    Spray on more as needed.

    micwillia....

Will these seal kits you are offering fit in a 2018 Tacoma?

I am needing a set for both sides of the truck.

    Thanks for your help.
