URD TCAI Cam gears OBX headers/y-pipes Tuned with HP tuners It's a ripper!!
I have been following this post for a bit, great info here.
Anyway, thought I would try to give some feed back, I am tuned with Justins tune, the first trans tune he sent me worked great, as in much better then stock, but then it started hanging up in 3rd, like explained above, my truck would hold 3rd gear under normal acceleration as high as 3500 rpm, then shift, and shift again super quickly, Justin just sent me another version yesterday, it is better, but still not perfect, but for sure better.
I have to say the HPtuners with a tune from Justin is by far the best performance modification you can do to your truck!

We are working on that currently. If you are experiencing the hang you can simply reach over and real quick go D to 4 back to D on the shifter and it overrides the transmission AI logic that's causing the hang

Hi - pretty new to the forums - I have '12 TRD Sport DCSB - It's got a lift on it and bigger rubber underneath it; but as far as I know/can tell is completely stock; I bought it like 3 months ago, first Taco ever owned.

I have an HP Tuner from my previous LS2 build (no taco credits yet); I just got e-tunes from a modder on another community forum group.

    Wondering 2 things mostly:
    1. Without any engine mods (intake/exhaust) yet, would a tune even affect these trucks?
    2. If there is a "noticeable" difference - is there anyone that I should PM specifically for a tune?
I see "Justin" a lot, but don't know who that is haha (Guessing JustDSM?)
    TIA guys

EDIT: I do plan to eventually do exhaust work, but idk if I'll do any deep refining on how she breathes, its my daily driver and the cammed Sierra was a hassle enough to deal with chasing ponies; I just want this to be a pinch more "exciting" to drive

I have just recently done this to my truck, few weeks tops! the "stock tune" that Justin sends is a HUGE difference, as an example I went from the "stock tune" with a basically stock truck (had a URD TCAI) to adding cam gears, then adding full exhaust(headers, y-pipes, cat back, no cats) the biggest difference I felt was the very first tune I added the "stock truck tune" as I added the other mods, I received new tunes, but difference was much smaller compared to the huge difference from very first tune.

and yes the Justin is justDSM, I am also very new around here, and let me tell you that he is very easy to deal with, you should buy those credits and get it done, you wont regret it.

I have hptuners, recently installed headers and y-pipes, and now getting codes 430, 440 I think they were, codes because of the cats deleted, is their a way I can use hptuners to stop triggering those codes? Or do I have to do something else to get ride of the engine light for the no cats codes?

Yes. Go to diagnostics and just uncheck the ses light and you can change to no report so they wont ever show up again

    Hello @Bbp rob,

Welcome to this thread and your ninth post.

HP tuners and tire size vs speedo??
Just recently went to 285/75-17 tires on my truck, I have tried changing the radius number in hptuners, then writing new file , and just can't seem to get it Rite? Speedo is off by about 6kl/hr (sorry guys, I am in Canada) according to GPS speedo on my phone at 100kl/hr, changing radius number doesn't seem to make a difference?
Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
What's odd is the stock file, radius number was not proper radius for the tires I had before these ones (265/70-17) checked my speedo on the way to the tire shop to have the new tires installed, and it was accurate?

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Those values help with the transmission logic. And the reason they are "off" for factory tire size is they account for tire deflection due being in a weight bearing state versus a static no load measurement.

Ohhh, so by me changing that radius number am I missing stuff up that I shouldn't be messing with?

If you've changed tire size it's not a bad idea to correct it.

    Factory tires:
    ~30.6" diameter
    ~777.24mm diameter
    ~388.62mm radius

    Stock ECU Value:
    368mm radius

    Difference:
    ~20mm

If you have a different tire size than stock, derive it's radius in millimeters, and subtract 20 from it. That'll be a safe starting value to use.
