Its not banned from speaking about. He got tossed from tw by the mods for pissing off too many of the 3rd gen guys for failing to deliver on promises and the resulting shit storms that followed.
    For a brief summary anyways.
Ovtune or a Hptuner tune can make any single variation of the pedal commander obsolete but as stated- being able to switch throttle response on the fly isn't an option with Hptuner or Ovtune... yet

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Matt(?) at OVtune is a very capable tuner. But he is essentially a one man show that is mostly focused on 3rd gens and is barely able to keep up with the demands of getting out his Turbo kits. I hope he can get established and gain more resources in the coming years.
As of right now I think anyone wanting his attention with 2nd gen stuff is gonna be stuck in an infinite loop of disappointment. Not that he isn't capable, he's just not able. HPtuner is a very established company, and anyone can use there hardware. And we are fortunate to have a couple guys here on the engine and transmission controls that are very generous with their time.

Are some of y’all still having that issue where the truck stumbles off the line at WOT?

I wonder if you bypass the fuel pump resistor if it would still do it.

I may try that. I bypassed it altogether on the diesel swap in the land cruiser.

I’ve never come across any literature regarding when the ECM commands the resistor in / out of the circuit. Could have something to do with that stumble thing.

When I was researching it on the engine swap it was only used to turn on and off the pump relay for the cruiser so it was not running constantly. It seemed to be more of a quiet luxury noise silencing than performance setup. I feel like my stumble is from the VVTI or torque demand curve being pulling timing.

I can 100% confirm it’s not those, it is timing related, but whatever is causing it, isn’t defined.

I did a breakdown on it in the S/C thread iirc.

Wow epic read. Took a few days…

    great work everyone,
Thank you Tacoman for picking up the cam gear mantle,
Thank you nd4spd for your efforts in the autos,
Thank you JustDSM for really positive and helpful posts…

many others as well made for a real page turner. The bricking scare had me rifling through pages to see the end result (basically not an issue now). It was exciting to see the tuning development grow through the thread.

looks like there’s only one thing to do now… head to Mexico for some off-roading!!!

    So.... uh.

https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a...Tunes During Smog Checks, you'll fail the test.

Curious to see how this effects things.

Looks like its a combination of a Cal ID and a CVN

CVN AND CAL-ID Calibration Verification Number (CVN): a number set by OEMs to verify the integrity of the vehicle software Calibration Identification (Cal-ID): an ID for the software installed on the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) • CVN and Cal-ID are currently used by Smog Check Referees to ensure correct vehicle computer programming in situations where modifications likely: oEngine changes o Law enforcement citations for modified vehicles o Referee directed vehicles with mismatched OBD data profile

Is there any way in tech stream to check either?

The tech stream software package I have (dated) doesn't from what I can recall. I'm sure some of the more robust scanners have the capability (Snap-On, MAC, etc.) to read CVN's.

If they're checking CVN's (which would make sense), you're going to have to flash back to stock to pass unless you find some magical combination of changes which ultimately generates the same checksum as the OE calibration.
