I assume your talking about the front and the answer is no. 1st gen Tacoma's don't have an un-boltable hub like most do. Our trucks are pressed into the knuckle.

If you're talking about the front bearings, like mechanicjon was saying, unlike 2nd & 3rd gens, which have bolt-on assemblies, 1st gen wheel bearings are pressed into the steering knuckle. The "easiest" way to replace the bearings is to buy the new bearing & seals, remove the steering knuckle & take the knuckle to a machine shop to do all the press work. That's what I did with my last bearing replacement.

Damn. That's the reason eh? Not a major deal I guess, but not looking forward to it. I live in podunkville and it might not be an easy task to get the bearing pressed out and back in.
Any tips or tricks to keep it dry and last a while and/or tear it apart and put it back together?

Watch this video. They do the bearings as part of the hub conversion. Maybe @Timmah! can chime in with some more pointers. The video will give you a good idea of what the job entails. If you know anyone with a 20 ton press or have access to one, you could do the job yourself.

Pickup a set of used knuckles and have the bearings changed. Then it's just a knuckle swap. Less down time.

Awesome videos @Timmah!. Can't believe I've never watch one before! Didn't watch the complete 2nd video...

But just wanted to add if it wasn't mentioned, or if you didn't know. The ADD CV's can be converted to manual and you can keep your ADD CV's as spares. Just need to replace the ADD birf with a manual birfield.
I had to cut the add birf cage to remove. Pipe trick didn't work.

I didn't know this. But, can you buy the manual Birfield separate to accomplish this or do you need to find some complete manual CVs to pull the birfs from?

Never found a Toyota p/n for them. I ordered them through Sideline Hero. He works for Toyota, and makes the manual hub kits for 2nd gens. He states they're oem. If that's the case Toyota must have a p/n for them.
Off Road Solutions also offered to sell me just the manual birfs.
Only problem I can see is cost. Sideline's were $125. ORS were $90. $40 for a boot kit per CV. It may not be worth it to some folks.

Yeah, I rebooted my Manual CVs as part of the job too. Bought the pair of reboot kits for around $80 from Camelback Toyota. I still need to find another CV axle as a trail spare though. I know I now have the option to drive out in 2wd if I break an axle, but if I still need 4wd to get out of the area I'm in, I'll be forced to do a trail repair.

Might want to also keep a spare manual hub lockout assembly. Manual hub cv's usually break at the birf stub within the hub. And the lock out goes with it.

Thanks for letting me know this. I'll pick up a spare manual hub too.
