$90 bucks to take apart, reinstall, and alignment is a sweet deal. I would have fought to get the other guys to do it for free. But I understand not wanting to be a dick when you have to deal with them for work. Either way you'll be all set after the alignment shop straitens everything up. Nice truck!

I guess he's kinda correct. It's not the shock itself that's giving the lift. But that C clip adjusts the coil seat, which on the highest setting it compresses the super stiff coil even more, and provides even more lift, hence the extra 2.5" of lift.

Ask them if they do not mind hitting those grease fittings.. I bet they have never been done..

I still feel bad about it, but $90 is really a good deal for that job... Please keep us posted with pics.... Our trucks are worth every penny you are putting into her...

I have complete strangers ask if i want to sell mine... Gold 4 doors are Rare!!

Mainmoe02 yeah Ill be quite honest and say I don't really understand the whole "lift from shocks AND coils combined" type of thing.. all I know is that everyone says run it on the 1st clip which they did not. I have faith in this other place because the manager actually has the same exact truck as me and has a lift on it as well.

gman2530 I will definitely mention it to him. Yeah I went from a 4dr 3/4 Ton Silverado with all the bells and whistles to this and I have to say I would take this over the Silverado any day of the week. I've had this truck about 7 months or so and I plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off (who knows when that'll be)!

Didn't read it all but read enough, to the OP, don't let anyone (tech or not) move the clip from stock position when running any aftermarket coil that is longer than stock, this is where your lift comes from, longer, stiffer coils don't need anymore preload other than what it takes to get a nut on the strut...

P.S. Hey Gary sorry i wasn't around this week, figured i would be but i wasn't...

gman2530 You asked me in an earlier post to measure when it was done. Just to give you an idea of where I am at now I'm right at 40'' give or take a tiny bit. Im sure I was nowhere near that before this lift.

4WD Yeah dude just figured that out too bad it was a little late. She's going to sit until tomorrow and the shop will put them back to the stock height.

You completed one of the the big ticket items the other being timing belt/water pump.... The rest is personal details & maintenance...

Timing belt was done about 20,000 miles ago or so I called the local Toyota dealer in town that Carfax shows completed the work and they confirmed. From what I know water pump was not done though. The previous owner had the fluids flushed regularly and kept up with tons of maintenance. Underneath was spotless up until recently when I took her out in some mud. Overall VERY solid truck. I love being able to drive it hard and get 17-18 MPG. My old truck got about 13 MPG while driving like a grandma.

ok so one more question before I purchase my lift. If I buy new shocks for the front and new schakles in the back to achieve my lift. Will i still need to buy rear shocks?

Yep, with 1st gens any lift over stock is going to rquire longer shocks you may get away with it for a time but sooner or later your going to do some damage from topping out

Got the truck back from the shop already and this thing fucking drives 10000000000000% better than before. I couldn't be happier. Nice and smooth and has a monster stance. Here's the final result.. final.jpg

I hope others can refer to this thread if they are thinking about running the same set up. I highly recommend it!

So now your clip is on the lowest setting? Im only asking because I just installed the 5100s with the 883 on the lowest clip and my truck still leans forward is there any way to get around another 1 inch of lift outta my set up

I'm sure one of these dudes will be able to help you out but yes my clip is on the lowest setting. I have the Eibach coils up front though. My front looks like it sits just barely above the back I am going to measure tomorrow.. Im sure itll probably drop down to even or so after some time goes by.

Edit: I will tell you something though dude.. before when my clip was set higher the ride was SHIT and when I mean shit I didn't even drive it home last night so just be careful.
