    A "kit" is used to make something easier to build or install. The downside is the loss of flexibility. The main purpose of a dual battery set up is to isolate one battery from a second battery while being discharged and to connect them together while charging. Normally this is used to provide auxiliary power from a deep cycle battery without draining a starting battery such that the engine can be restarted. The three most common applications are for emergency vehicles, RVs and boats. Some of the most common techniques to accomplish this are the use a manual switch, relay or isolation diodes. Regardless of which technique is used, it is important to properly size the batteries, wiring, fusing and isolator based on the application's power requirements.

    Not sure on the exact figures... As for the winch off your main, you always want to run your winch as close to the alternator.

    S I'm about to to go ahead and go duals :cool:

    I just have a few questions. Since you end up grounding both batteries to the frame can you ground the accessories that are running off the the aux battery to the frame?? Or do I still have to run grounds from my lights directly to the aux battery??

    By grounding both batteries to the frame you are creating a ground buss that can be used throughout your vehicle as a common ground. Good low resistance grounding connections need to made to reduce voltage drop.

    How does that not create a crossed connection?? If the powers are isolated..

    So basically I can just ground my lights to the frame and body or wherever..

    The key word in your question was POWER. The + sides are isolated but a ground is just a ground. It can be joined and crossed and wrapped around eachother and it make no differece. Yes u can ground to anywhere on the truck as long as its metal that in some way is connected to the frame. I actually have no ground connections on my battery terminals besides the main battery ground wire, they are all made on a lug bolted to the engine bay. Also if u take a minute and beef up your ground wires all through out the engine bay you will have a much better grounding system. Just remember that wire is rated for a certain amount of amps. When u surpass that amperage rating you have to step up the wire size. Consequently u also have to step up your grounding size.
