So i'm trying to figure out what mid-travel suspension is going to be best for my uses.

    Both kits would be:
2.5 res coil overs in the front
    Tubular UCA replacement
    Sway bar relocation
    Rear leaf pack replacement
    2.5 res shocks

I was wondering which setup is better, the King's or Icon's.
I will be doing mostly small town driving. When I off road its usually grated trails or worn trails, back roads basically.
I will also be rock crawling and doing some slower more precise trails.

I know I've been told both kits are overkill for what i want to do, but they're the kits of choice so i can have the ability to do what i want if i want to.

so again, which would be suggested kit and what do you guys think is a better product?

That's pretty sweet.... I understand the conceptual part of being able to changed the firmness of the shock, but what's the true application.
Softer for woops and jumps, and firmer for crawling? or how does it work?

That definitely helped a lot. Kinda forgot that a king set up is going to have that LT squeak haha but it just confirmed my icons are what I want

    Please explain.

IMO for what you describe King is what you want. LT noise is mostly heim joints and bypass valves. Neither is a concern for your application. I don't see a use for digressive valving in your application.

Digressive valving is used for the DD aspect. It's not even noticable to most as it's on the rebound and not compression side.

Icon is my vote but honestly pick a color/best deal.

Well that's the thing, with everything thing I'm going to get it will be $200 difference for the kings. I'm just trying to figure out which is best for my application. And from the sounds icon are tacoma specific and have those vlave controls which would be nice for different types of off roading

Just put Icon's extended travel coilovers, uca's and reservoir shocks on the rear (no leaf spring mods as I tow a travel trailer and so far have been advised to stay with the stock leaf packs) and I couldn't be happier with the ride - both on road and off.

I went with Icons and couldnt be happier. got their ext travel coilovers set at 2.5", Resi's in the rear with Dakars (one overload spring taken out). Couldnt be happier with the ride quality.

Are you saying that the digressive valving only works on the rebound and not compression? I do not believe that to be true.

Icon's digressive valving is on rebound not compression.........http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/254389-icon-cdc-coilovers-2.html

"As far as the piston design..... off road race shocks use a Linear / Linear design and ICON uses a Linear / Digressive design in our V.S. Series line of shocks"

"One good feature about being digressive on the rebound side is the low speed control which comes into play during street driving much of the time."

I just installed Icon's Ext.Travel coilover with 700# coils and Light Low Speed Valving for a softer ride. All i can say is WOW. What a difference in ride and handling coming from Bilsteins set at 2.5" I do alot of wheel'n on trails and rock crawling, not too much high speed desert wheel'n. But both Icon and King make awsome products. Can't go wrong with either one :D

The more i hear and read, the more that Icon gives the best on road ride around, doesn't allow for too much body roll, and off roads performs just as well as King… so Icons it is
